Catch 22 with Orange

Hey MSE users,

Just a very quick rant about the Orange billing systems, which seem to leave a lot to be desired.

I’ve paid O after the bill was produced, as I had no idea what it would be before the bill (understandably), however what is completely beyond me is that the bill credit will not be placed on the account until after the next bill is produced, which in my case is the 10th. This will be leaving me with a credit score even my sister (who before becoming self-employed was bankrupt) would be scared of and no phone for 4 days each month.

Is there any legal right to get around the billing system, and if not, any way to sort the problem out any other way. I state my refusal now to pay by DD, as this has been a problem with Orange in the past.

I don't quite understand your story, but at Orange and all other networks you pay the monthly charge in advance. At the start of a billing month they produce a bill and you make the advance payment. The next bill will include the next advance payment and what you overspent in the previous month. There is no way around it.

Thanks Grumbler, turns out they’ve terminated the contract without telling me. Reconnected and working after an hour in the store, with very few problems. Chris is back in action!
