broadband + line rental for 6 months

Hi,

My partner and I are moving to a new flat for 6 months, after which we will be moving back to shared accomodation. We are looking for broadband which can be set up for 6 months, however all the broadband contract I looked at are min 12 months contract.

The nearest offers I found were the no long contract line rental from post office, however I'm unabel to find a good deal on the broadband combined. has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Alex

  • .. and to add, Zen and IDNET also do monthly line rental as well.

In terms of a "good deal" - they won't be the cheapest outright, but weight that against the cost of a cheap setup and the early cancellation fees that will come with it if you cancel a long contract early. And all the ones steveE2 mentions are well rated.
  • Thank you both :) I came on here to search / post this very same question.

Do I need it? Can I afford it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?

  • Thanks for the advice,

I have since spoken to a few people about mobile broadband and visited the 3 store which does a pretty good deal on High-Speed MiFi Pay As You Go + 12GB Black for £134 (over 6 month = 22.50)

I've checked the engineering site in the 3 store for signal strength and the nearest pylon is 250m away. so signal strength is excellent. however to decide between the MiFi and the £6pm cheaper dongle all depends on the gaming speed for my PS3.

I generally play 1-2hrs a day max on CoD, do not download any movies, maybe 5 albums per month and generaly surf the net, ie facebook, shopping and MSE daily (weekends may go up to 4hrs gaming max). would 12gb be enough for 6 months and is the gaming speed acceptable (ie ping below 100)?

If anyone has tried this, I would appriciate the feedback.

    Thanks again,

    Alex
