Hi guys,
Bare with me as im a newbie lol. basically my friend (who's computer illiterate) parked in an industrial park kinda thing, in a private parking bay of a company. She unfortunately parked next to a sign saying "dont park here or pay a fine of etc", the building is signed 'to let" which suggests its not even occupied.
Now iv read the advice to ignore the ticket/invoice and the subsequent letters, however will she still be liable as she could obviously see the sign? there could also be cctv showing her getting in and out of the car and taking the ticket from the windscreen?
Thanks in advance for any help x

No all irrelevant , a private company has no legal right to "fine" anyone. IGNORE them.0 -
or you could scan through the posts/advice here that date back at least 4yrs?...
the sign/cctv evidence (if there is any) amounts to jack.
and I won't 'bare' with you. I only do that with my 'significant other' - and she's needs me. gotta go.0 -

Thank you both so much for your quick response. This website and its members, including you guys :-), are genuine blessings to the cash strapped, regularly conned citizens out there.
Iv been reading through all the posts regarding UKCP but have always come across situations with missing disabled badges or "poor" parking. However, i havnt seen any cases where someone has just parked in a space without reading the sign with the details and with cctv active. Surely with cctv they have enough evidence to take you to court???0 -
Cameras make no difference. Being near a sign makes no difference. Overstaying or parking on a white line or whatever they claim as the transgression makes no difference because the whole thing is built around a scam.
A demand for money, with menaces (threatening letters) but dressed up to look like a parking ticket so people think it is one. It is NOT.
Did you see what the Watchdog solicitor told Anne Robinson what he would advise people to do with any fake parking ticket? If not then read the stickies and watch the clip, you need 'PPC letters what to expect' (for pics of letters!) and 'welcome, please read before posting' which includes the Watchdog clip:

And that one had a pretty picture of a car on it as well. Big wow, a picture or CCTV footage doesn't become 'evidence' when it's just in the hands of a private parking company who never do Court. Except...did you know that UKPC were taken to Court themselves this year?

But don't 'just' search for the UKPC threads - read any PPC thread, there are loads which cover the situation you are worrying about.
Many of the Parking Eye thread-starters worry about camera evidence and practically every Supermarket car park has CCTV (supermarket car parks being a prime place for posters here to get a fake PCN). So if you just read some other threads you will see it's all been covered & all posters have lived to tell the tale by ignoring the threatograms and realising that it's not a fine.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You're right they could take you to court, but then they would have to prove that the amount they are demanding is equivalent to their losses. Seeing as that amounts to sweet FA it doesn't matter how much evidence they have. It is an amount to penalise and therefore unenforceable by anyone but a statutory body like the police or council. That's why they won't take you to court. They could have a photo of you mooning at the sign for all it matters.0 -
Thank you guys soooo much! i feel like making my own tickets and sending them to you attached with some money for such advice!0

Landowner damages would be zero, therefore the most the landowner can sue your friend for is zero. The contractor has suffered no loss and can't sue for no loss. Ignore the lovely letters your friend might receive.0
