I went to make a cuppa and in that time EE has posted similar to what I was going to type.
I'd be raising the financial issue about DL with SS. It doesn't seem fair or right that you are expected to fund this yourselves, whilst child related benefits related to him may be being paid out to people who aren't contributing to his upkeep.0 -
Me too! Exactly. I'm amazed that at the very least child benefit is not being paid to you if ss are involved and it's official. It's so good of you to take responsibility for him but it costs.
I too had never heard of "pegging out" until I found your diary.
It would be splendid if you could be debt free in 2 years! I think your ds1 would have finished his US studies too by then.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
Lovely to see the chat on your diary Alice... you are not alone, never were but definitely not now xxx0

I hope someone sorts some financial support out for you Alice, I know it's family, but that's not the point here.
Just popped in to say...
I could have pegged out today, but I believed the weather forecast and it's now all on Airers in the bathroom boooooooOutstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Yes me too. My DD, her version of tidying up her room is to shove everything under her bed! But yesterday she went with her pony owning friend to the stables and whilst friend exercised the horse, she mucked out! I shall be telling her it's a transferable skill.
So I have solved your domestic chore issue Alice, you just need them to befriend someone with a pony and not nag (no pun intended) for their own horse. :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the posts everyone. EE, Unfortunately my SIL will take anything she can get financially. When DL first stayed with us my in-laws offered to give us some money, which we declined obviously. It just didn't feel right. in my heart I know DL should be at home with his Mom but I supposed I think I'm doing the right thing in having him stay with us. Will speak to OH about it.
DS1 is now thinking about dong his Masters so that will be another year. Nooooooo:eek:......:D Will support him whatever he decides. I can't see us making it over to see him graduate.will need to start looking at summer flights so he can come home for a bit.:D
We met friends at a Farm Adventure place today. Only DS3 came with us. I'd saved a voucher out of the local paper so only had to pay for me and OH. Did buy hot drinks from the cafe and a bag of animal food. Weather has been horrible this afternoon. House felt damp when we got back so we've had the heating on for a few hours.
Tomorrow I need to get birthday cards and go to the butchers.
Wish, that's a shame about the weather. I tend to peg out regardless....very rebellious. :rotfl: more often fhan not the forecast is wrong and luckily I get away with it.
Spendless, haha I like it. I read a post today about Easter egg hunts just show that kids can find things when they want to.:rotfl:
Brizzle, I know the chats great, and thanks to you and everyone for their support on here.:)
V, yeah I r just got to keep focused and keep spending under control. Hmmmm. I've always called it pegging out.:rotfl: If it all works out right DS1 finishes his studies and DS3s weekly child care costs will end at the same time. On the downside DS2 will be a uni.

Could ds1 do his master's in the Uk?
It would be great for you to manage flights to see him graduate. Perhaps another incentive to get some board money for dl???CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -

Hi V, we hadn't even thought of that, doh! Something we will certainly checkout. Yeah it is an incentive to get things sorted. Thank you for inspiring me.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

We've a busy but lovely day with having family round for lunch. Didn't do the big Easter egg hunt that we've done on the past, DS3 is just growing up too fast.:o. I did decorate the table with a few little chicks and eggs I found in the craft box but nothing OTT.
Have updated budget and spending diary. We are currently paying Cabot/Yorks bank £5 per month. Don't know that I was thinking that we weren't paying them anything at all. March we spent £180 petrol and £625 on food and toiletries  Only managed 9 NSDs last month. I know I can do much better.
Spends coming up - keep paying towards school trip, DS has his driving test soon so need to look at car insurance, car in for service next week, still childcare to pay in holidays and we start paying council tax and water rates again this month.
Loving this extra long weekend. Hope everyone has had a good day. (I've eaten far too much chocolate :rotfl:)
