To be fair the OP's daughter may be on the diploma course which only required 5 GCSE's or equivalent.

The degree programme has still not be rolled out across all universities. Maybe for the 2012 intake?

As a nursing student...all be it a mature one in her third year, I know how daunting essay writing can be particularly if you have only recently started the course. You can try your lecturers but may have more luck looking elsewhere. The university I attend has a service called upgrade which is based in the library so it may be worth looking either there or online on your universities student support pages. Another possible source of info is the website student nurse. There web address is http://www.studentnurse.org.uk/
They have a forum where you can ask questions and an essay bank which can give you some ideas of the style you need to foster when writing a academic essay for a nursing course...And before anyone says I am not suggesting she copy anything, it would be picked up by plagerism software if she did, but it is sometimes nice to get an ideas on structure etc from reading someone elses work.
