Tell her to e-mail her personal tutor or whatever they call them at her uni, there is help available at every uni but she needs to ask for it!0

Every subject and university wants a different thing from their students, so anyone here who isn't at her uni and on her specific course will probably give the wrong advice. As the above poster said, she needs to go to her tutor or ask her coursemates for help.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0

There are plenty of good books out there on how to write essays, the University library will have some. A really good one is the OU's Good Study Guide. She also needs to approach her tutor/student advice, my Uni ran essay writing help classes.
But getting to University level unable to write essays is quite serious. It means she's already two steps behind.0 -
Does she have a copy of the Student Nurse Handbook? That's really useful.0

She's not doing a 'traditional' degree subject. Although she will need to produce essays to a certain standard, there are many other skills relevant to nursing which I'd argue are more important.
Which would you prefer looking after your child - a nurse with knowledge, empathy and kindness, but who can't turn in an A+ rated essay, or one who is a whizz at essays, but forgets the knowledge and lacks empathy and kindness.
(with apologies to all those nurses who are brilliant nurses AND can write a good essay!)0 -
there are usually courses run by student services or IT or someone like that on essay writing too. there are almost always a selection of ways to get help with this - a lot of students struggle, especially since A levels in many subjects are so dominated by short answer questions. other students are also a great resource. they can proof read each other's work and study together.:happyhear0

Is it like a foundation degree? again tho' the answer is she needs to pluck up the courage to discuss it at a tutor review apptBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Anybody on a nursing course should have either A levels or an equivalent qualification like Access or BTEC, any of which should have involved writing essays, so it is indeed worrying that universities are accepting students without this skill, however empathetic they may be.
As others have said, there will be help available through the university.0 -

Its an NMC requirement that nurses do a certain amount of 'continuing professional development' every year. She'll need to write essays as long as she's a nurse to demonstrate that she is up to date with the latest knowledge on every area of care.0 -

Be fair, the leap from A Level to university level study can be tough in the first semester, no matter how good your essays were before.
A lot of schools really guide their students closely to get results and then they find it incredibly hard to manage without the level of tutor contact they're used to. There is also a lot more independent research involved in university essays as you know.
Nursing degrees though do often take people from less academic backgrounds, they know that some of them will find essays hard so they're usually very well geared up to help. I bet as soon as the OP's daughter asks for help she'll be bombarded with all sorts of resources.0
