OH has given me his ngage and a usb cable that came with it.Well I can use it like a removable drive to drag pictures into and put mp3's on using the audio software but can I put java games, applications or new ringtones on?
It doesnt see all the folders, only the ones in media/images

The pcsuite doesnt recognise the usb cable as a connection. So I cant use it to do the job,but nothing else ive tried will do it either.Have I installed the software wrongly or do I need to install before plugging the usb in(its at the back of my pc so a real pain to unplug) ?
OH only ever used it for mp3s and pictures so never tried putting anything else on it.

Ive decided to try a bluetooth/usb dongle to connect that way.Wont get it till friday.
Really I wonder if the cable is just not suitable. On hunting about on the net,I notice the cables available are more like a serial/usb connection ,mine is more like a little wedge shaped usb thingy at the phone end and /usb at the other but its the only data port it has.I can see the contents of the media/images folder which has trash, other, video, images, sounds folders and hidden backup and system folders. It recognises jpegs put in the images folder but wont recognise apps put in the system/apps folder or jad or jar files,or sis files. It recognises mp3's put in the sounds folder. Im either doing something stupid or the cable is just for basics not apps or games or ringtones.

not sure if I should have put this on the techies board instead??

here are some instructions someone gave me in the past:
You will probably need to clean your orignal card that came with the ngage first.
Easiest way is to install fexplorer.sis yo your phone.

    Download fexplorer and extract it.

Connect the usb cable from your pc to your phone

The pc will recognise the phone.

Right click fexplorer.sis and click Send To:
Now click Local Disk (F: ) [Your ngage]

The file will be transferred to your phone.. It may seem like nothing happened as its a small file.

    Now Disconect the usb cable.

Go into Tools in the menu on your ngage, and select Manager.

    Install fexplorer.sis.

Now go into fexplorer on your ngage, navigate to the e: drive using the directional pad
Click options on any folders that are there then click File

Now click delete, and follow this procedure untill nothing remains on your card

Install Blizzard game installer to your phone.

Do this by extracting blizard from the orignal .zip you downloaded.
You will now have a .sis file

Connect your n-gage to your computer via usb again

Simply Right click the .sis file
and then choose the option 'send to'
Then choose Local Drive (F: )

The .sis file will now be sent to your phone.

    Disconnect the usb cable.

Go into Tools in the menu of your ngage,
    And Choose Manager

    Locate blizzard.sis and install it.

Once you have done this recconect the usb cable.

Now Find all the games you want on your phone and individually right click them
    click 'send to'
    then Local Drive (F: )

The games will then one by one be uploaded to your phone.

Once you have uploaded all that you want, or, run out of space..
    Dissconect the usb Cable.

Now go into the menu of your ngage and select blizzard (file name may vary)

You will now see the list of games you have uploaded to your phone and you have the option to install them.

    Install them.

Once done you will see the games in the main menu of your ngage.
