I bought a little red leather bag once, in Clarks. Really simple bag but beautiful soft leather. I've used it a few times (I don't normally do red so it goes with nothing LOL) but I love it. I love the black bag I bought just before I started to need glasses so about 4 years ago (had to stop using it daily then as I couldn't fit my glasses and my purse IN it) - and that was £45.00! and I used to go in, every week, to look at it (which is what I did with the red bag). I love the bag my mum and dad brought back for me from Italy - leather crocodile in beige, in the 1980s and it looks brilliant still.
What I am trying to say is that, in the world of bags NONE of these are uber-expensive, but I get pleasure from owning them. Don't feel guilty. There are no pockets in shrouds - life's too short and you get enough carp flung at you (well I do!) you DESERVE this bag!

My mum has a Tula bag which is straw and it's her holiday handbag. I've had copies pointed out to me (by her) and she ALWAYS wears it so the label can be clearly seen then everyone knows hers ISN'T fake.:rotfl:

    Is it one of THESE

    Love the brown croc!

Thanks for all your replies. I tend to feel guilty because I've not spent this much on a bag before or had someone spend this much on one for me. I tend to spend about £40 now on a leather bag, at one time I avoided leather bags because of the price and would only buy cheap ones at £20 or below but since starting with leather I feel they are more durable but £75 does seem a lot to me. I do have a cheaper bag for evenings, one of those patchwork leather ones from the market at a fiver but thats OK because I don't use it every day and I don't put much stuff in it so it lasts forever, whereas I did once buy a leather patchwork one for the day and stuffed it and the strap went after two months. Those bags are real leather on the main body of the bag the straps are plastic and the inside isn't very strong material so that soon went tatty aswell.

However, now the BF has texted me to say he's seen a jacket he would like for Xmas, costing £200 and will I put towards that so I guess I may aswell buy the bag myself after all.

  • You get what you pay for. Buying a more expensive item that shock horror actually does the job required is a lot better than buying twice some crappy items because they are virtuously cheap but are hideous and horrible in use.

If Tula handbags last as long as their purses, it'll work out a bargain. I was looking at my Tula purse today, wondering whether to replace it ... it's only 20 years old ... but it's still going strong, not even any straining around the fastening :D

Hi, wise words from you all, thank you. I have a Tula purse, its a smallish one that I got for £20, I got it as I prefer smaller purses and yes its still going strong and I've had it about six years so far.

I've seen a Marc Jacobs clutch that I want for my 50th, and it's a lot more expensive than your Tula bag, but I'm only 50 once!!

Buying cheap can be a false economy, look after it and it will last you a life time.
  • You've wanted that particular bag for so long, OP, and you're going to enjoy using it and being seen with it. You'll take good care of it and it'll last you for years. You've absolutely done the right thing in buying it! :-)
