GAME preorder - dispatched day after release

I preordered Sonic Generations on Thursday, 1 day before release, from GAME's website several hours before their 1pm same day dispatch cut off time, and phoned customer services to confirm that it would be dispatched the same day. At 3pm in the afternoon the order was still "unshipped" in my account, so phoned again only to be told that due to some unknown error my order had been overlooked, and will definitely be sent out the following day instead.
Phoned them twice on Friday, was advised my order was "in the final stages of processing and will be sent out in the next few hours" but still no dispatch confirmation email. Fast forward to Saturday (yesterday) morning, my order still wasn't marked as dispatched in my account. Went into town looking for a copy of the game with the intention of purchasing it before cancelling the online order, but the special edition I ordered was exclusive to GAME online.
Finally received a dispatch confirmation Saturday afternoon, the day after release. I know game retailers always get software releases a few days early so they can ship them out in time for release date, so I can't find any reasonable excuses as to why my order was delayed.
Thanks to GAME, I have two very disappointed sisters who were looking forward to playing Sonic over the weekend. Will not be using this company again in the future unless they have an exclusive I want.

Have you considered asking for compensation ?"There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0 -
It happens but I wouldn't do anything about it.To be honest if you wanted to be sure it would be with you on release date you should've pre-ordered sooner.
Anyway,it's a brill game and worth waiting for,ds is loving it (and not too far from completion lol) and I want to play too:DIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

If you were THAT bothered, why did you not cancel the order and buy it from shop on Saturday morning?0 -

It's the first Sonic game that's had good reviews in years, no doubt it's fun
As for the preorder I originally purchased it from Amazon, but cancelled on Wednesday night when I was told about the Special Edition (comes with xbox Sonic avatar, dashboard theme + bonus level which my sisters wanted). Besides, apparently GAME gets deliveries of new games on the Wednesday before they're released, so they definitely had it in stock when I ordered. If you were THAT bothered, why did you not cancel the order and buy it from shop on Saturday morning?Went into town looking for a copy of the game with the intention of purchasing it before cancelling the online order, but the special edition I ordered was exclusive to GAME online.0 -
That's not fair flowerbomb.
Won't you think of the poor children!0 -
If i remember correctly anyhow free postage will not gaurentee delivery on the day of release it would need to be special delivery for that and most companies will only refund delivery as compensation if a game is late so if you chose free delivery you wont get a penny out of them been there done it with them before.CashBack earned to date - £1244-580

yes it is correct retailers will get software and even DVD releases a few days before they are released, but sometimes these cannot be dispatched until release date.
i worked in a software store and when new released arrived instore we would get the list of pre orders for that item and then remove this amount from the stock and place them in the envelopes ready for dispatch, but the stock system would not allow you to print off the receipt/shipping label until the release date as the software was locked on the system until that date, so could not be taken off the available stock as it did not show on the system until the release date.0 -

even some games wont activate on systems before release date, so even retailers or their staff cant have a sneek use of a game before release date.0 -
Ordered from Game and received games a day before official release before.
Some companies such as Play.com don't guarantee or even attempt to get people games/dvd's etc on day of release.
Game's delivery policy, is naturally full of ifs and buts which basically come down to, we will try but we won't 100% guarantee you'll get your order when we say.

Yes there are much more important things in the world, but I can understand the OP frustration, after they made the effort of 2 phones call to confirm despatch.0
