only on this forum could a topic that starts with someone buying poor quality fireworks develop into a warning that its not a good idea to fly planes between buildings....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

don't have to have been driving for fifty years to know that weaving in and out of moving cars on a motorbike is dangerous and asking for trouble do you?
same as i don't have a pilot's licence but i know that flying planes between buildings is risky.
nice try tho
And you also don't need a licence to know that you should look out for things coming from other directions before pulling out of junctions but, for some reason, car drivers seem to need entire TV campaigns to remind them of this.
Oh, and car drivers shouldn't need bikers to remind them to use their mirrors, but idiots like this one do.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
i've seen people driving round with both mirrors folded in a few times!Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?0

OP....if you had tried a couple of the fireworks and they were rubbish then taken the rest back to the shop, then I would think that they would listen to your complaint and take you seriously.
However, to go back to the shop and say the selection was rubbish but we used them all anyway, you wont have a leg to stand on.
As for banning fireworks....I used to think that people should be able to choose if they bought them or not but now I think they should be banned for sale in shops to Joe Public.
Not only do they often get into the wrong hands but 100's of injuries are caused every year to people even if they are careful sometimes. There is also the disturbance that is caused to animals/pets that occurs on several nights, not just one. Also injuried to animals (and death) is huge.0 -
I had a very cheap bonfire night, I lit the firepit in the garden with my family and sat around watching fireworks going off from all different directions. It was brilliant, didn't cost me a penny and I had no trouble parkingi before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour0

Well I went back to Morrisons.
They offered me £15 partial refund which I accepted.
I hadn't intended the thread to become a health & safety lecture, but in answer to some of the comments;
1. I tend to ascribe to the theory that those people who chose to do dangerous things know the risks and accept the consequences.
2. Is setting off fireworks in your own garden dangerous? Yes- the hazard is high as are the consequences, but with a sensible person in charge which I belive I am, the risk is low.
3. My kids ( who are too young to understand the risks), stayed inside behind the patio doors.
4. Other adults (we did as others have done -have a few friends around), understood the risks and stayed outside.
5. We went to a display last year and it was very good. This year it was our turn in our group of friends to do something so we did this.
6. Nobody forces people to buy fireworks. I believe that on purchase there is an implied acceptance of the hazard and risk associated with the purchase and the instructions are very clear. I don't believe they should be banned.
7. Will I do it gain next year - probably not- we will go to an organised event. In true money saving style it is cheaper.
Interesting to note that nobody else thought that the Morrisons fireworks were rubbish ( at least nobody said so). So just me then.0
