Whatbcar you looking to get? Spending £40k on one, when earning only £36k is mad. Wish I had £10k for a car!!!0

If they didn't contact you before getting the CCJ, you may be able to put it aside and pay the debt now! This would significantly improve your credit rating. Even if you get a CCJ, if you pay the debt straight away it does not show on your records!
However, you are still unlikely to be able to borrow more than 50% of your earnings!
If you have already saved 10k and have little outgoings it shouldn't take too long to save enough money. Although, I personally wouldn't spend that amount on a car, but if that's what You want to spend YOUR money on, then fair enough!0

Is it half-term? This has all the hallmarks of a bored thirteen year old.0

I shall just have to wait it out and put some savings away, 'tis no biggie.
Sorry, i know you are new here, but you do need to respect forum etiquette.
What you are supposed to do is now flounce off with comments such as "I only came here for help", "why are you all being so mean", "this car is the most important thing in mylife" etc etc. And then pronounce that you will never come here again.0

I am sorry if I "offended" the forum but I asked a genuine question of which I received a genuine response which is what I had expected it to be - I am not in "la la land" and I work very hard for my money, why a thirteen year old dream up a CCJ and ideas of finance is just flippant.
I am quite offended that my queries have been deemed as childish but I do understand what I asked may have seemed unrealistic, I need confirmation.
I take it finance usually works on a basis of 50% of your annual income? I shall stick to my original idea and purchase a second hand car and hold out for a few years then go for a new car, the insurance would be less anyway.
As for the CCJ I'm not sure what I can do or where I can go, would. Start with my bank or a credit agency like Experian as such? Someone told me about a "notice of correction" or something.
Alas I think it's too late to get it removed, by the time I had checked my credit file and found the CCJ it'd been about 4-5 months - I have and was registered on the electoral role at my new address when they issued this.. I simply believe they "didn't bother" to try and contact me.
Using a new account because for some reason my email isn't recognised on this system(I've emailed the administrator.)0

It was an E Class Mercedes, so not a Ferrari or anything.
Looking at second hand A4's in light of the financial query.0

£40k on a car- sheer madness. Pay your ccj off and with the change from your £10k buy a car and live happily ever after.0

Taking on £30k of credit for something that is going to depreciate massively before it is paid off is a bit silly. Especially given your salary in comparison.
In 5-6 years time you'll be really thankful you didn't do it!!Thinking critically since 1996....0

If you want to buy a 40k then why not??
Its your money and if you can afford it - then go for it!!
I LOVE my cars (had a few - 26 to be precise! ) but get bored easily so putting all my money into one car would not be ideal for me
Have you tried asking a dealer?0
