Don't get seduced by the size of the hard disk, go for the build quality and stability. It's usually better to spread the risk over a couple of drives anyway.

I think this Seagate is a great buy, solid and quiet and with the backup software included it's a steal. Can also be stacked horizontally.

Maplin one is now on 14 days waiting so it's either Iomega from ebuyer or WD one from amazon.

One of the posters said it's Seagate in Iomega. Can anyone confirm? If so, which model of Seagate is it? Maplin one is 7200rpm and 16mb cache.

I prefer Seagate as it's the only hdd I never had problem with. Maxtor is the worst from experience....two bad sectors after just a year use. WD---one fatality.

Which one would you have?

I have ordered the Western Digital 500GB My Book from Amazon for £99.

I believe it contains a SATA drive rather than an IDE type so it should be a bit faster in theory.

Also the My Book looks better.
