I have no router manual, I fear I will have to engage an "expert". Why does it have to be wi-fi?
Why would you buy a Kindle with wi-fi and then not want to connect it by wi-fi?
As stated above, if it is the 3G version, then you can download from your account that way as well.
Your router manual will be available online. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks martinthebandit that has probably allowed me to set the password as nothing, but it is not enough for the Kindle. It's still asking for a network and to the best of my knowledge, I do not have one - but leaving the window blank does not work.
Macman - the kindle was a gift.
I'm afraid this wi-fi stuff is terra incognita to me.0 -
The Kindle needs you network password not your router login password, as previously stated you have to set that up in your router settings once you have logged into it.0

You need to set up or otherwise switch on the wireless function on your router. That process will create a network and a name (if not already set up). Then all you have to do on the Kindle is select the required network and enter the password.
Start by logging into the router interface and go from there. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for your responses so far folks but I'm afraid I'm giving up for the moment.0 -
Not necessarily, only by default, you can use any network name you choose, mine happens to be a particular brand of beer.:D
Yeah, but you renamed it through the router.
To login to you belkin (I'm assuming as you have no idea what your doing that you havent changed any settings)
Open an Internet Explorer window on your computer and type in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar. This will take you to the Belkin router's web based configuration page. If you are not able to open the page click here.
You will get a login page. Leave the password blank. Click Submit.0 -
