    Are you serious?

The result would be a kind of dirty looking chemical ice cube/s.

Central heating water is totally independant of wholesome mains water.

    So , no.

    In a word...no...

Have you ever seen the colour of the water in your central heating system? Not to mention the chemicals (cleanser etc) that could be in there...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I have done a bit of plumbing over the years but that is a first.

    Could you elaborate please?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    Rust inhibiting ice cubes.

  • no sorry, you will need to run a clean water pipe. its only a very thin pipe so you can hide it easily behind things, can you put a pic of your kitchen up, maybe someone can recommend an easy run for you.

So, the idea is to pipe hot water into the fridge and also to only have it work when the radiators are on, right?

(I'm surprised the folks in Comet and Currys could keep a straight face!)

Think about it it's genius! Brand new pipework, brand new rads, brand new non-combi boiler, brand new everything else in the system..not much different to boiling water in a kettle!! This could be an MSE alternative to powerflushing!![/U]

You're not kidding! I wouldn't want to be paying for the bog roll in the OP's household. :p

    One of my favourite posts!

In an open vented system (not a combi or other sealed system unless you keep topping up!) I guess eventually you would get clear water and be running inhibitor-less ! Perhaps it's actually a good way to protect your boiler/heating system from corrosion as you'll be constantly flushing the contents through into your stomach!

Think about it it's genius! Brand new pipework, brand new rads, brand new non-combi boiler, brand new everything else in the system..not much different to boiling water in a kettle!! This could be an MSE alternative to powerflushing!! Set the programmer and chuck a tea bag or two in the dispenser for when you want a cup of tea on tap! It would still work too when the boiler isn't on in this open vented scenario - but cold obviously!

But if it's not a brand new system you'll probably die after the first few weeks of inhibitor consumption so you'll save quite alot of money!!! And at least your fillings won't corrode before you do die!

    Just to reiterate...NO!

on the plus side, itll be cheaper than a power flush by British Gas.
