If you use a VDU at work you may be eligible for a free eye test. Contact your personnel department and ask what are your employers obligations are with respect to eye examinations under The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992.
From what I understand most employers are obliged to provide (or pay for) eye tests. Some employers even put money toward corrective prescriptions.

I don't suppose you've got relatives or friends in Scotland?
Eye tests are free here!!0 -
Im from Scotland. Eye tests arent free!! Maybe for some but not for me, 22yr old!!
Thanks for voucher hartcjhart. I have booked an appointment online. I booked the eye test + contact test as i need both. Hopefully the voucher will still work, for one at least.
Do i just present it to them? & how can i get perscription without making a purchase from them....Boots are wise/cunning and dont seem to give it out unless you ask!!0 -
Here's the link that states that eye tests in Scotland are free for everyone. For medical reasons I have to get mine tested every year but I think the usual timeframe is once every 2 years.

My friends get their eyes tested and don't pay. We all work full time and are in our 30's.

Hi,the voucher will work for at least on test, after the test just ask them for a copy of the prescription,
I originally got the voucher for my brother and he had the test and then asked them to give him a copy and they did no problem(and he's a miserable git:rotfl: )

Hi,
So i went to D&A today with my free eye test voucher and turns out that in Scotland you do get free eye tests(when i said i had a free voucher she said you dont need that and she doesnt have any of my CC details)....bummer as i travelled beyond 3 opticians just as i had this free voucher!
I now have a small problem, i had carried out my eye test with them, but they didnt give me my perscription. Can i call them up tomorrow and ask for my perscription and all the details as i want to buy glasses online! Had a look at the sites to buy glasses and they want so many details(spere, cylindar etc)...can they give me this all over the phone, also they said today that i have an + 0.5 asignatim in my left eye....what does this mean, can they give me the details of this to????
Also 2 sub questions, first one is i still have to have a contact test as they said your perscription for this might be different that for my glasses. Can i go to a different optiocians for this(a closer to home one) as either way ill be paying for this(plan to buy my contacts on the net as i have been in the past). However D&A have my address details and glasses percription now, i actually have a contact test booked with them for a few days....what should i do?????
& finally a little challenge fore you, whats the cheapest site to buy these glasses????? police v29590 -

I cant seem to copy and paste it to here so if you send me a PM with your email address I will send the file for you to open and print.
