The perscription is your property to the person who has had it, and if the guys dont hand it over, then they are breaking the law ~ lilmiss ~0 -
If you use a VDU at work you may be eligible for a free eye test. Contact your personnel department and ask what are your employers obligations are with respect to eye examinations under The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992.
From what I understand most employers are obliged to provide (or pay for) eye tests. Some employers even put money toward corrective prescriptions.

I booked a test with D&A through their website last year when they were on Quidco and they didn't call me to confirm appointment. I have jsut tried again so hopefully they will call back this time! I actually need a test now before I can go for my consultation for laser surgery...3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I'd definately check out http://www.spexmaniac.co.uk/ as opposed to glasses direct. Thinner lenses as standard and cheaper.0 -
when i looked at the boots atm machine (where you can print your points off) on saturday they have a bit on there which shows you different offers, well on there was one for a voucher for a free eye test at boots just neec to print it out or like someone else said when i joined the boots health club thing (you ring them up and its free), they send loads of different vouchers one of them was a free eye test.0

At my local Boots, eye tests are currently free. Bought specs from them, as really need them right now, but asked for a prescription because am planning to buy a pair of cheapies online to test out the service, and if it's good, I'll stop buying from the high street in the future.:)
I asked for a copy of my prescription, and to be honest, I think the optician was a bit insulted... She said she had to give me a copy by law, and I suppose I slurred her character by asking her for something she would have had to have given me, if you see what I mean.
The only grounds for not releasing a prescription, would be if it was really old and out of date.0 -
My husband went to book his eye test and showed them the voucher and was told that as it isn't in his name there may be a problem using it!
The voucher has no name on it! It is printed with the email address but who's to say if that is his email address or not?
Anyone else had a problem?0 -
Just trying to find a free or cheap eye test for a student (ie limited finances!) friend who has lost his glasses but could do with a new test anyway.
The M&S Mag sounds the best idea as he does not have a Nectar card and not convinced the D&A voucher would work.
Does anyone know if it is in the current M&S magazine?
Is the Boots club free to join? Although I read it takes 4 weeks to get your membership pack, not sure if you could visit the optician before then, and he needs to!
Or any other ideas? Thanks a lot and sorry for so many questions!! :-)0
