I have a stinking cold and blocked nose/sinuses etc - im currently 35+ weeks pregnant - i want to take a lemsip drink ( well, Tescos own brand version lol) - but it says on it to consult doctor beforehand if pregnant or breastfeeding.... is this just a precautionary thing you recon? will i be ok taking it? really need something b4 bed...

Lemsip is not very strong. You are best taking something that is paracetamol based as it does not pass through the placenta, as far as I know.

If you are really finding it hard, then a steamy shower with some albus oil or vicks vapour rub should help.

My son gets collic so I boil a kettle in his room, this may help you too. I leave the lid open so the kettle keeps going, otherwise it switches off. HTH.

oh in regards to teeth whitening

When i quit smoking 5 years ago i was in Oman and decided to get them Zoom! whitened as a treat with the money i'd saved

It was pretty boring really from what i can remember he put a clamp thing in my mouth to keep my lips off my teeth (my BIL took a photo of me at this point, idiot.) and then he painted them with product and sat me under a uv light and told me to say something if it hurt
    it didnt.
he gave me a prescription for paracetamol and sent me on my way happy and considerably whiter.

got back to my sisters house and as soon as the aircon hit my teeth i was in AGONY

aching like when you eat an icecream and it hits a nerve end

i took some pain relief and it died down over a few hours until it was okay

5 years on and i've def lost a few shades and obv as i dont smoke still they are going to be whiter but i'd do it again fosho!

since then they say they've improved it so it hurts less

    it cost me about £150

I suffered really badly when I was pregnant last winter and also had asthma complications. I was desperate for something but I was told by GPs and pharmacists not to take Lemsip. I was reduced to paracetamol and hot honey & lemon. I was finally prescribed steroids to stop my asthma killing me (A&E and on nebuliser) but when it comes to being preggers, always best to check with a professional and not rely on heresay (especially not the reality TV band) for advice. A GP may well ok it but it depends on whether the good outweighs the bad.
