I'm hoping (in the nicest possible way) that the consultant has admitted PG into hospital so they can sort her out once and for all
or...
maybe she is at home catching up on her sleep as they have given her something to help the pain:T0 -
I'm back, well actually I didnt think I had ever left, I could have sworn I had posted since I went to the Hospital last week, but looking back over the posts it looks like it must have been all in my mind !! Oops !!!:o Slightly worrying. These blasted pills are playing havoc with my memory and apparently I have been sending the most bizarre text messages to friends that they have had to try and decifer ! All very embarrasing !
I must have sooo much to tell you, if only I could remember it all, but I'm sure it will come flodding back !!
So backtracking to last Wednesday , I saw my Consultant who was lovely. The poor man clearly thought he was talking to a total nutter as I had had such difficulty walking from the car to the hospital I was in so much pain and therefore disolved into floods of tears at the first kind words he said to me which were "I am so sorry I havent been able to see you before now, but I want to help you " Well that done it for me !! It was like that Tom Cruise move ( I think it was Tom ) when she said "You had me at hello " !! I could have kissed the poor man if only I was worried that the postman would be jealous !! :rotfl:
So the general malarky is that as I have tried every other option over the last 7 years there is nothing more they can do for me other than the operation. He will perform micro surgery which I am really pleased about as it was what I wanted but was told I couldnt have on the NHS, but apparently I can. It wont cure the hip or back pain, but will hopefully cure the leg, pelvis, knees, feet etc etc pain. There are risks obviously but for me having the op done is the only option. It may need to be performed again in about 5 years, but it may not. I'm pretty chilled by it all, I jsut want it sorted out as its not fair ont he girls or Mr Pinot .The hips and back can continue to be dealt with by the Pain Clinic. Once the disc is removed , I may be left with numbness but I have that anyway and nerves may throb, but again it cant be worse than this so I am happy to go with it. He likened it to having someone stand on your big toe in a pair of stilletto heels ( which I hope he doesnt wear often !) for 7 years, then decide to take the stiletto heel off of the toe . The nerves will be rather squished so may still hurt. But anyway I gave him the go ahead and he is putting me on the emergency list and fingers crossed it could be done in the next few weeks although he isnt promising. I had the official letter arrive today so I will just wait for the call. He was slightly horrified at the boxes of tablets I piled on his desk and he also explained why I hadnt been able to see properly and had had double vision for the last week or so and which drugs were causing it. He wants me to stop taking certain things to get them out of my system. I am a bit scared of doing this though as I could be on the list for months and not sure how I will cope. I will try and gradually cut them down.
My Doctor called about 10.30 that eveningand I talked it all through with him and he is goign t talk to the Consultant and between them try and come up with some medicines that I can continue taking and will work for me in the interim to keep me sane !!
So thats my back/ leg / hospital story !!!
I will be back though , I have some Olympic News, some Santander wins to report, some PPi losses to report and probably lots more.
Thankyou all all so much for your messages,I have really missed talking to you all, but I still havent sourced Piqs desk that goes up and down , so sitting and typing has been hard to do !!
How are you all ? I really do hope you are all ok.
I will try and come back in a little while.LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Great to see you posting honey and sooo glad that the consultant was helpful. Also good that your GP is on board and hopefully between them they can help you cope until the op.
I understand where he is coming from over the tons of meds you are taking so please be careful.
Hope to catch up later, take care
