You are far too nice. I'm not surprised you've got a job. You sound lovely.
:oThank you
I fear we are flogging a dead horse here, people. LadyMissA, I wish you luck in your hunt for a job, but I think what you are looking for is a clone of previous jobs. They're gone. Kaput. We get one chance in this life, and I for one want to give it my best efforts. The day that I have nothing left to learn is the day I've given up breathing - I want to do new things, meet new people and have fun, despite being a 'certain age'!! OP look around you. If you knew it all you would be fighting off the job offers. So who is wrong?0 -

I did try if it matters and it was filled and no the person didnt have to do a trial as they were already working and how do I know this? An agency told me.
It matters, its called feed back,
people say try, you try and the employer says no you report back.
It's the decent thing to do.
You told us it was a direct application how would the agency know you even applied.

If there were agency involved it was a real job, and you probably had it if you had turned up for the trial.
Don't forget an agency will put you off if they still have a candidate in the running.0 -

yes I tried I emailed the HR person they emailed me back and I replied saying what was the next step (after they told me to reply if still interested). No reply after this and she was not contactable any other way as she is 'on the move'. I then saw the job advertised via an agency so applied as it was word for word the same advert and 3 days later the agency emailed me back saying the offer had been made that day as someone already on their books was put forward before the advert went online.
I then asked the agency if it was a straight forward offer or a trial and they said it was an offer, no trial needed.
I am guessing they wanted to trial me as I am out of work & I wouldn't have got it anyway as I am unemployable.
thanks0 -

are you mad the reply was,
"when can I come in for the trial"
you blew it
I emailed back and said yes and when could I come and would she let me know what was involved that day. No reply after that.
Her actual words were:
'
If you would like to come in and have the trail day then please let me know and I can explain what it entails.
Kindest Regards'
I said
Many thanks for the reply. Would it be possible to let me know when I could attend the trial day?

That is concerning. I would not work with a candidate who was registered with 12 agencies. Why so many? The market will be saturated with your details.
There are a lot of CV pushing agencies out there. They will have done your CV in their format and mass mailed it to 101 companies. Times that by 12.
Scenario - Company A gets your CV from 3 agencies.
Result - they worry they'll get 3 invoices if they take you on, so CV goes in the bin.
My advice would be to find out where your details have gone already for a start. Ask the agencies. Then, select the best 2 agencies that you've dealt with. The ones who return your calls and don't waste your time with jobs that aren't suitable. The ones who you've met. If you haven't met any of them then you need to. I wouldn't let anyone direct my career if I didn't know them.
People in jobs often look more desirable. If I was out of work I'd probably get a job cleaning or something to show willing whilst I looked for something else, but that's just me.
you might not even get a cleaning job you know.:footie:0 -
you might not even get a cleaning job you know.
Well I'm pretty sure I wouldperhaps the OP no, but I have cleaning experience and I find jobs for a living, so I'd give it a good go.
Besides, I don't take no for an answer. I'd contact all of the cleaning companies I could find and find out the name of the person in HR and the hiring manager. Then I'd call them and have a chat. I'd explain that even if they are not recruiting at the moment, what sort of thing do they look for in their employees. I'd ask if I could go over for a trial day, or even a week, to prove myself (FOC of course)
Then I'd phone all the other companies in the area and ask who does their cleaning - do they have a company that they use or do they employ people directly? I'd ask which company they used if they do that and then contact that company. I'd explain that I can literally drop everything and go and stand in for someone if they're off sick to get a foot in the door.
If they employ people directly I'd ask for the name of the hiring manager and HR. I'd then contact them as above.
I'd get references from former employers and add the best couple of sentences to my CV instead of writing a cr*ppy profile that is completely biased (of course I think I'm honest and reliable and a good team worker, but I would say that!)
I'd contact the local council and find out what companies they have cleaning contracts with and how to go about getting on their books.
I'd get on Linkedin and do a search for owners of cleaning companies. Then I'd find out about their companies and give them a quick call to have a chat about potential opportunities. I'd follow it up with a (well written) email saying 'thank you for your time. Here is my CV and contact details'
Those are just a few things that I would do if I really wanted a job cleaning. Although I think most of those things could be adapted fairly well to finding any role.
Actually, thinking about it. I'd probably just set up my own cleaning company.0 -
I just know that I am going to regret any further effort on this...I can't be unemployeable as I have been in work since 1987 till now, but that's year opinion.
You might not have been unemployable then - that does not mean the situation hasn't changed.I did try if it matters and it was filled and no the person didnt have to do a trial as they were already working and how do I know this? An agency told me.
These agencies seem to spend and awful long time telling you about their clients business. But assuming this is true - and I am finding it increasingly impossible to beleive that multiple agencies are telling you that someone "already working" has got the job - you and someone else (also presumably not working) were given a chance to trial and get the job first. Whose fault is it if you refused and they looked elsewhere? And maybe their experience of interviewing unemployed people - "offered a shot at the job, couldn't be bothered to do a work trail, obviously doesn't want to work" - could be the reason they may look for someone in current employment, if they have?
Summarising from your multiple threads on the subject of your unemployment:- your CV is perfect and fabulous and every agency has told you this so it is obviously true
- you have a sparkling and positive attitude (despite all evidence here to the contrary)
- your references are good
- you have shed loads of good experience, skills and qualifications
- your personal appearance and hygiene are perfect
- you are applying for anything and everything going, and also making speculative applications
- you really want to work
Despite the fact that you seem to be utterly unable to see it, people on this board have gone over and over ideas in an effort to help you, and have met nothing but a brick wall of "there is nothing wrong with me it must be everyone else". Why on earth bother to post and ask for advice if you don't want any?
You have had advice from employers, from HR, from recruiters, from people who have been in the same position as you and found work - and every single one of them, according to you, is wrong. For goodness sake get a grip. Nobody here wants you to be unemployed, and they have really tried to do their best to help you - often repeatedly and often after you have repeatedly been nasty and negative towards them about their help. If all you want is sycophants who tell you how perfect you are and it is the fault of everyone else that you are not in employment, then you ought to know by now that you are in the wrong place. But if you actually want advice on getting back in to work, then listen to the people who have been trying to help you.0 -
