Orange canary sim only contract sim in iPhone 3GS?
Apologies in advance for asking a naive question.
I have a iPhone 3GS handset which is out of contract but locked to Orange.
My DS has a £10 a month orange canary SIM which gives him 300 minutes, unlimited texts and, I think, no data.
orange have told me he can have a data add on, 500 mb, for £5 a month.
Can add this data to his sim and then switch the sim to the iPhone 3GS and expect it to work or am I missing something? The iPhone specific Sim only deals seem to be more expensive than doing this and I don't understand what the difference is?
Sorry for being clueless and thanks in advance for any advice.

This will work, but it can be cheaper to unlock the phone and use it with some other sim.
Some virtual networks (giffgaff, chitter-chatter, talkmobile) offer 500Mb or unlimited mobile internet for £6-£10 p.m. Only giffgaff is PAYG thought; chitter-chatter and tolkmobile are rolling contracts with unlimited credit.0 -
The orange sim is a 12 month contract which doesn't finish until the end of February 2012 so he's stuck with Orange until then.0

Make sure than that your son doesn't go over 500Mb, although I believe that extra charges are cupped by £1 per day at Orange.0

I'm assuming at home he can use our wifi without cost? The iPhone sims include "wifi" but I think that must be BT open zone or something rather than just the ability to connect to a wireless network at home?
Did say I was clueless...0 -
Yes, with WiFi at home 500Mb is a pretty safe allowance unless he starts streaming video/music when not on wifi.0
