Growing my own veggies - a question and any other newbies?

Hullo! Another newbie here! I have planted up a blackberry cane in an old bin, and I've bought seeds for tomatoes, strawberries, cut-and-come-again lettuce and a few herbs. I may be getting a wee bit carried away! Oh, and I got a half-price mushroom growing kit in Woolies today after reading the Window-box Allotment. I am in a flat, so it's all containers for me.DFW stats:
