No time I'm afraid. I can just about allocate a couple of hours every few weeks for this, plus an old injury (no, you lot, not from the War..:D) means that I can't walk for more than a couple of hours max at a time without being in quite a lot of pain. It's fine for training/walking the dogs, but not for all day stuff.

Used to go out every Boxing Day hunting.... For years when I was a child, it was clay pigeon shooting, until Dad thought we were ready. We'dbe up at my cousins every time, andthey were getting sick of going out. Most of my uncles gundogs are KC Spaniels, but my Dad favoured Irish Redsetters.
My uncle went away for a few months working, he'svery proud and reserved by nature. Arrived back to discover his children had named his two new prize dogs Coffee and Cream- there was no way he could bring them on a shoot with those names, and they'd had too long being called that and wouldn't respond to anything else.... Cue the first real pets.
My Lab is sharply intelligent, very wilful, and has great recall. The Rough Collie is the opposite- he's very obedient, quick to respond, but slow to learn. It's fun training them..... Collie will never make a gundog though, he's too highly strung.
Mine are pets not working dogs though.

Thanks for the link, Kyrlr, did check out and you're right!

Ok so we went gundog training. Nice day, in a big field. As expected, I was carted all around it, but that's my fault as I really have done very little heel work with Sid, it tends to be everybody in the car, drive to walk place (we have several we use), open boot, everybody out.

He did eventually wait for a few seconds in the sit position, but lots and lots more work needed!!

All in all though, nice people and will def go back next time!! Hopefully I'll have a better trained dog by then....

I find this a fab method for teaching a loose lead walk ("heel" tends to mean a strict heel, e.g. for dog shows or obedience, dog staring at your face, against your leg - whereas "loose lead walking" is the daily walk without pulling your arm out of its socket!)
