02 Simplicity 30 day contract.... can you get them with a CCJ?

Hello All,

I currently have a mobile phone contract with O2 (I say I, its in my partners name), that runs out on the 23rd December, its costing £35 a month.
I do not need a phone upgrade and I am happy to keep my current phone so i have been looking at the o2 Simplicity deals, and i can get one for about £16.50 a month.

Ideally it would be nice to get this in my own name although having it in my partners isnt really a problem, but i think as i pay for it, it would be nice to have it in my own name and also will look good on my credit file.

I have a CCJ from 2008 for £800 and also a default still showing, which i pay the courts a set fee a month to pay off. so as of yet it is unsatisfied. I do however have lots of green circles on my credit report and a credit card from vanquis which gets paid off in full every month. (again trying to build up my credit)

Obviously i dont want to waste my time applying for the 30 day contract if they are going to reject me straight away.

Does anyone have any experiance with o2 and do they accept anyone to the 30 day plans?

Would it be best ringing them up and speaking to someone rather than ordering from a computer online?

Thanks in advance

Holly

They may ask you for a bond, that they will refund after a set period of time.

Why don't you just get a giffgaff payg sim? I think their goodybags are just as cheap, if not better than any 02 30 day tarrif

Thanks Lottie, I would rather stick with o2 as i know the signal is good where i live and at work as well as 3g coverage.

Plus the 30 day contracts have better offers than the PAYG ones, plus remembering to top up every month, id rather just pay be direct debit.

As well as all the above it would help me show other companys and banks that i am improving my credit history and nothing like i used to be 5 / 6 years ago.

I have just had a look at the giffgaff website (ive never heard of them to be honest) the deals do look good, but again only PAYG. not really what i want to do.

thanks for the advice though. I wouldnt mind paying o2 a bond or 6 months upfront or whatever if thats what they want. anything to help out my credit file.

If it requires a credit check, then you may struggle. They may ask you to pay a deposit up-front. You can only try, it's not like the search is going to have much effect on your file lol

£16.50 for an o2 simplicity SIM?

Is that 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data then, with a 12 month minimum term?

You can get 300 minutes, 1000 texts and 500MB of data for £8.00 per month with Talkmobile.

A deposit is likely to enter a pay-monthly contract, who ever you do go with.
