Help reading Water Meter

Hi Guys,

I am trying to read my water meter (which I have located on the pavement outside). I have opened up the black cover that is at pavement level and was expecting to find the piece of polystyrene that protects it from the weather. Instead I was confronted by this

I have no idea how to open it, could someone give me advice?

Are you sure you have a meter?
  • Are there any other lids/hatches nearby?
    .....

  • the pic shows the stop tap and a blank where the meter should be fitted.
so the answer to your question is you cannot read it because it is not fitted
where is the plastic tee key gone that fits in to the hex fitting to turn the valve off?
also did you get a package when they said they fitted it because it should show a meter number on the paper work
how long has it been there? new or old
is it yours or next doors

Are you looking at the correct chamber as mentioned it just has the white plug fitted and no meter, unless you are on a shared supply and the meter is inside your property or fitted closer to your house.

The water company will have a record of where it is located if one is fitted

My new place has an 'inaccessible' meter that men have to come out to look at. I'm awaiting my first bill, to ensure it's not a company guesstimate (given it'd probably cost the same or more to send someone on the job to look at it - single occupancy - it seems pointless...).

I've also asked where the stop !!!! is, but have yet to hear back... !!!!tards.
  • as others have said, that atplast doesn't have a meter installed. Basically the meter should be where the white plug is. I think you are lookling in the wrong chamber. I would suggest looking in other chambers and see if a meter is installed in there and obviously check which one has your serial number on it.

It looks like the metal thieves have been at work in both yours and Deano's area ..........

Sounds like its in a 4 or 6 port manifold , there will be a handle you can pop up in the corners, you will need the serial number to find the correct meter.

As you are in a flat its worth flow checking you are paying on the correct meter :)

Anglian Water will have on record the meter location so if you get stuck you can always ring and ask them

You can see a pic here of a manifold chamber is this what you are looking at ?
