Tesco Galaxy Mini S5570 mobile £10 per month contract warning

Hi,
Just wanted to let people know that Although Tesco are doing a cheap deal with its Galaxy Mini for ten pounds per month contract (free phone, 250 mins/5000 texts/500mb data), there are a couple of things to be aware of:
They bill on the 2nd of each month, so if you receive your phone at the end of the month, like I did, then you will pay £10 for just a few days!! They do not tell you this and although they carry over the unused minutes from the first month (only), you probably won't be able to use it all as otherwise you would not have chosen this contract in the first place. If you can, buy near the beggining of the month.
If 'capped'* is not applied properly at point of sale, again like mine wasn't, then you will have hours of infuriating calls to customer service to put this right. They will try to treble your monthy bill! Be warned - make sure you get confirmation when you buy.
Hope this is useful.
* 'capped' is free only if chosen at the time of buying the phone. It means that you can never have a bill of more than £10 per month unless you choose to top up. Brilliant - if you actually get it.

Hi, if I understand you correctly , all networks do this.
You pay a month upfront so you will be charged your full line rental upfront from the billing date plus the number of days you had the phone prior to the billing date.0 -
I guess they might. I paid £10 when I bought the phone on the 26th then another £10 on the 2nd for the month ahead. This is my first ever contract so was a bit surprised as I was asked for a payment date, but this had nothing to do with 'billing date' so I ended up paying £10 for my first month - a 7 day month as it worked out!
The capping thing was entirely their fault as the website asks you to tick a box to choose it, then didn't apply it. Very frustrating and cost a few quid on the phone to sort out; twice.0
