17 Year old Driving :)

  • My first car was an old F reg Metro (I loved that little car!) when I was 17 (good grief, 12 years ago!!). I think the insurance was about £700 third party, fire and theft. Rightly or wrongly, I didnt get insured fully comp for a few years due to the high cost. I lucky never had any cause to claim on my insurance and was able to build up a fair few years of no claims bonus which reduced the insurance when I got a newer car and insured it fully comp.
Maybe you should do some searches and not only comparison websites but other companies that don't use them.
My first couple of years I used the insurance company named after a large grey animal (not sure if I can put them name on here?!) who were alot cheaper than anyone else I tried.
    Good luck!

Try Quinn. When Kids were learning and first driving we got the best quotes from them. That was however on my car. It might be cheaper to go on to parents car.

"The online quote system is not able to provide you with a quote" Got that from Quinn, and I doubt it, Mum as a 2L Turbo Diesel Mazda Bongo, only specialist insurance

Edit: Pretty sure names are allowed when saving money/insurance :)
  • Oh right, always best to air on the side of caution!
Direct line dont do comparison websites and they were cheaper for my ex when he passed his test at 17 (I was 17 too, i'm not a cougar!!).
I find Swift cover are cheaper for me nowadays.....may be because I'm getting old though!!

Tons of KA's around for under £500, Big rust problem on some/most of them.

Insurance nearly £3000 seems rather daft though.
