Hugs to you,i think a part of us will/have done this.who doesnt, when your married your going to compare little things.im already doing it and were not married yet.the day is what u make it,i paid £250 for my dress in a sample sale but that day i will be wearing a £600 dress (original cost) and i will look a million dollars in it.aslong as u and your hubby got married it doesnt matter about material things.from what u have said i take your wedding cost far less than hers will? in a few years she may regret spending a silly amount of money on the day i know i would,u know my H2B asked if we won some money on the lottery would i change the venue, and u know what i wouldnt because i love our venue and aslong as me and him get married thats all that matters, why go for a huge posher venue cos u have the money?? yeah it looks nice on pics but u can make any cheap wedding look like it cost a bomb if you know what your doing.and im sure your day was amazing and u looked stunning.
aw that was a fab post to the OP, I'm gonna keep it and read it after my wedding (in 2013....)Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Continual diamond - I think it is perfectly natural to have a bit of a come down after the wedding. For 11 years you have been dreaming of marrying your prince charming and now it has happened you need to find something else to focus on.
Focus on the positives - you married because you wanted your immeadiate family there, after 8 years they came for their first visit - you could have wiated another 8 to get all your friends and extended family there, but there is no guarantedd they would have come. I am positive your wedding was special and amazing to you and your husband - and you are the only people who matter.
Now spend the next 11 years planning a vow renewal in Australia, with all your friends and family...

This is lovely, almost what I was going to attempt to say. Hun, as long as you had a great day, and you and your hubby were happy thats all that matters. We all fuss about how we look but the fact that you were wearing a size 16 dress after your weight loss as a massive acheivement and you should be proud of this, rather than worrying about the little things. Your wedding must have been what you wanted, on your budget, so its not good to compare to other people who have a different budget and a different idea of what they want.0 -
thank you 74jax and stir_crazy
i like to say what i think, focus on the positives rather than the negatives.some friends of mine and H2B's spent £22k on there wedding, its was beautiful and they had a nice honeymoon but when i look back it was only the venue that cost so much, they didnt have any games, sweet buffet or choc fountain.it was a 3 course meal in the hotel then into a marque for the evening do for a finger buffet and dancing but they did have exclusive use of the hotel.they have even said to us they regret paying what they did,i think that alot of people dont realise how cheap u can do it and make it look amazing.a few people that we have showed our venue to are shocked how cheap it is as its a stunning tudor/victorian hotel.
And id just like to say what an amzing achievment on the weight loss aswell,u can say u did all that hard work for your big day and be proud of yourself and your day:)0 -

I know how you are feeling
Our friends got married in Greece in September and are soon to go on their 3 week honeymoon to sri Lanka and maldieves
They both have fantastic paying jobs and don't have to worry about money but we are doing our wedding as cheap as we can, my parents are paying for our reception and we are paying for the rest and don't want to spend more than £5,000. She probably spent that on her dress
I'm trying not to thibk about it too much but he will be the best man and a bit part of the day so I just hope they don't we our wedding was too cheap
It is silly thought it's not about money it's about the 2 of us and having everyone we love there and from seeing your photos before you had a lovely wedding, you lookes amazing in your dress and your cake was fantastic :jSaving my pennies for my wedding on 10th August 2013!:j

I've had the opposite feeling, been to 2 weddings since ours and enjoyed them all the more for the little differences. That's what makes the day special to th individual couple.
Don't dwell on the negatives, you say you loved every single thing about it on the day, so why should this change now?
Trying to compare yourself to other people is never a good idea - people's lives & opportunities differ, and everyone makes the best of what they have.
Look through your photos & remind yourself why you loved your day, and remember the most important thing about your day was that you married the person you loved, not the budget!0 -

Aw ((((hugs)))) to you too.
I am actually glad that we're doing everything on a budget, it'll still cost almost £10k :eek::eek::eek::eek: but that's 1/3 of what some of our friends have spent, and I think that ours will be just as special as anyone else's - and we won't have spent a total fortune on it!!! We can afford our wedding (unlike some!!) and are spending what we feel comfortable with, while being as MSE as possible.
I know that it will be beautiful and a reflection of our personalities. I don't compare what we're planning to weddings we've been to before - we've attended some godawful tacky weddings that cost ££££s and I hated them!!
Most importantly - the people we love will be there with us on our day. So don't worry Jewelleryfan xxx

It's just a feeling really they both earn about £60,000 a year and live in a small ish flat in London and they just seem to sail through life buying what they want and going on 3/4 abroad holidays a year. They may well be in debt but he has said this wedding etc has cost them their how lives savings!Saving my pennies for my wedding on 10th August 2013!:j
