Don;t worry, I thought you would be unwilling to produce the facts and figures to "proove" your claim.
I'll try and set aside some time late to post the stats so all can see the results.
Ok, here are the last four quarterly releases (from which we can extraplate the data that makes up the YOY results.
http://www.ros.gov.uk/pdfs/rosstatisticalreport_oct-dec2010.pdf
129 Detached houses fell on average in the quarter
169 Semi-detached proprties fell on average
301 Terraced properties fell on average in the quarter
581 flats fell on average in the quarter.
1180 net average properties fell in the quarter.
http://www.ros.gov.uk/pdfs/ros_statistical_report_jan-mar2011.pdf
63 Detached house rose on average in the quarter.
127 Semi-Detached Properties fell on average in the quarter
218 Terraced Properties fell on average in the quarter
338 Flats fell on average in the quarter
620 net average properties fell in the quarter.
http://www.ros.gov.uk/pdfs/ros_statistical_report_apr-jun2011.pdf
104 Detached house fell on average in the quarter.
134 Semi-Detached Properties rose on average in the quarter
309 Terraced Properties rose on average in the quarter
490 Flats rose on average in the quarter
829 net average properties rose in the quarter.
http://www.ros.gov.uk/pdfs/ros_statistical_report_jul-sept2011.pdf
153 Detached house fell on average in the quarter.
195 Semi-Detached Properties rose on average in the quarter
370 Terraced Properties rose on average in the quarter
625 Flats rose on average in the quarter
647 net average properties rose in the quarter.
YOY, 327 properties achieved a lower price than the previous quarter average.
So it would appear on a broad basis you were correct. Well done.
Wouldn't it have been simple to show and gain more credibility for your posts?
Taking this data in context then; -- The data is not entirely accurate i.e. 1 property could have dropped £10k, whilst 9 rose £1k or vice versa
- The spectrum is still very broad i.e. properties of these types sells for a vastly different prices depending on area oi.e. Bieldside varies from Westhill, varies from Tillydrone whilst these areas still contain the range of property types.
- The YOY data is taken from the Q3 2010 peak on the property types, which is still showing on avrage a +0.1% increase.

It's pretty handy the way you can graph out the different property types based on the ROS data. Really illustrates the point that the broad averages are being skewed upwards since 2007 by larger properties selling whilst flats etc. are crashing. That's right isn't it?0

So lets see if we can crack this complex analysis:
You prefer the QoQ comparison to the YoY Comparison.
Light....have to ask, what the heck is an extraplate? Can I get a sparecup whilst you're at it.0 -

I have no preference whatsoever.
The data is the data.
You were trying to use one quarterly release to justify yearly transaction volumes which was not visible in the data.
Nevermind, I provided the information you were unable / unwilling to provide.Light....have to ask, what the heck is an extraplate? Can I get a sparecup whilst you're at it.
Well done, I don't do spell checking on this forum and you have picked up I missed the letter "o" from extrapolate.
