hey folks! hope everyone is well!
off work next week so looking forward to a wee rest.
great to see some new posters
congrats to those that have made it to being DF and welcome to the weird feeling of not wanting to spend money!! I still find it a bit strange.
Samtoby - your LBM brought a tear to my eye, thankfully your turned it around x
Rising -hows the new pooch?
JG - wats happening on the mortgage?
some MSE news from me... been trying to reduce some expenditure with the impending mat leave pay, managed to convince DH to get rid of sky sports! I feel a bit bad as it was a treat once we became DF. On paper we could still afford it but i told him we couldnt. I'm just in a bit of a flap and want to have loads of "spare" cash!Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

It was a hard time. but I have truely learnt the value of money.
I think when you have nothing you can educate yourself about what you really need.
I don't need to have highlights done every 3 months, I don't need Diesel jeans and I certainly do not need the highest grade SKY package instead of a fresh shop of meat and veg.
I will NEVER put myself back in that place. Living with so little has meant I hardly buy anything anymore for myself unless its on ebay from credit of things I have sold or indeed on interest free on my Very account but never a balance about £100 so I know I can always pay it off.
Seeing an SOA and it showing what a state people are in reminds me of how I could not cope mentally with that situation. I did something very stupid when I was at the height of my debt and that will always be something that is close to my heart when ever I see people in critical situations.
I need to keep revisiting the debt boards as medicine because being a spendaholic does need treating somehow! For my own sanity!:rotfl:3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

it is a valuable lesson that we all learn.
When I have a look at the DFW boards it makes me feel a bit sad as I feel that there are more posters these days.... maybe a sign of the times that everyone is struggling with all the cuts from every direction.
Hopefully tides will turn soon.
hope everyone is having a MSE weekend!

We finally got our mortgage offer!! Yay!
And all the paperwork for for house is filtering through... we are on our way now (cross fingers)
Li I hope you enjoy your week off, rest up and don't scrub the house. Well done on getting DH to get rid of the sports package, it's a huge saving, and even having had a child before you do forget how much a baby costs, and every penny counts!
It's nice to see so many new people joining us, it's definitly good news that more and more people are becomming debt free and beating the debt cultureWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

In a word ..... nuts.
She is lovely ...... very bouncy and cuddly.
Still having some problems with the cats - she just wants to play with them but when she "bounces" at them, they freak & run .... followed by Maisie:(.
Big cat has managed to get the hang of getting down / upstairs and in / out without incident but wee cat ..... have finally gone upstairs this morning (as it's a beautiful sunny day for a change :j), picked her up, carried her downstairs and put her outside. She's been up there for nearly a fortnight & high time she got some exercise & fresh air!
Have a lovely week off ....:)JulieGeorgiana wrote: »We finally got our mortgage offer!! Yay!
:j Brilliant news!
Need to have a sort through the freezer today (although may leave it until tomorrow as I think it's supposed to be raining again then - when is it going to stop! I have puddles on my lawn & a flooded bit at the back of the garden!) - trying to have an "eat out of" month and get rid of some stuff - also Maisie needs her own drawer (which Ben used to have) but I've managed to fill that too!:o
Trying to have as low spend a month as poss to catch up on last months' overspend - Have a lovely weekend everyone.:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

samtoby. The time on the DMP has cured me of my spendaholic ways, not having a CC also helps. I have never had so many things on my Amazon wish list that have not been bought because I don't need them.
LianneH The lesson was valuable and hard. I don't think things in the wider UK economy are going to get better soon.
JulieGeorgiana. :jgood news on the mortgage offer.
rising from the ashes. Sounds like the cats need to step up the dog training regime.Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Repaid £54,723.41 LBM May 2006.

There are so many people looking at Debt Management Plans.
I hope the economy gets better but I can not see it for a while yet.
Well done JulieGeorgiana! Excellent news!
My dog is a nightmare, but today I caught her using the cat litter tray to do a poo in! Better there than the floor!:rotfl:3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Hi all, I have finally found my way back. The last few months have not been easy and as always it seems that just when you need support the most you tend to drift from the places and people who give you that support:(
I have so many posts to catch up on but I hope everything has been going well for you all.
My spreadsheets are awful, my head is all over the place and so my control over things have slipped and old anxieties have returned so I have given myself a bit of a kick and coming back on here is one of the steps in getting myself back on track.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY.
