Hi everyone, after reading through all the threads on here (which have been tremendously helpful) and reading reviews in whatstove I have finally wittled my choice down to 3 stoves. The Villager Flatmate, The Aarrow Sherborne and the Hamlet Carrington.
The favourite at the moment is the Villager as the reviews are brilliant and it is much cheaper than the others. I have been ringing around all the local suppliers in my area to see if they stock it as I would have liked to see it in the 'flesh' so to speak! However no-one stocks it though they say they can get me one.
The only thing is it is a woodburning stove but you can buy the multifuel conversion kit. I would be using it more for solid fuel than wood and wondered if anyone had any experience of using this stove for solid fuel.
Thanks in advance for any comments, you have all been so helpful already.
Jen

I have Villager Chelsea Duo, which is a 5kw M/F burner, and actually looks very similar to flatmate. With the exception of course, duo has ash pan door below double doors.

I obviously cant advise how flatmate operates with conversion kit installed, I can say though, some have been happy to bash brand name for one reason or another, I have to say and, although my first stove, I have no complaints with stove performance over three year I have been using it.

Actually, last weekend I replaced all door and glass seals, simple and cheap task.

    HTH???

    Regards.

Aww thanks for replying Welda. I'm glad to hear that your happy with your Villager. All the reviews I've read have said the same, its just a pity I can't see one for real before ordering it.
Just have to get my installation sorted out and we can get cracking. I can't wait to get it installed.

I should have mentioned............I purchased on-line without viewing, ticked my boxes, mainly due to dimensions, for me, was case of "pay your money and take your chances" I was not disappointed.

Have you called manufacturer to ask for a local-ish supplier?

    Regards............

I bought a Villager A Flat several years ago online without seeing it and have been more than happy. Although bigger than yours they look similar and the doors may even be the same.

As long as you keep the door seals in good condition (easy and cheap) then I find it very controlable.
