O2/CPW Upgrade Mistake?!?
Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help. I upgraded my mobile contract with o2 via CPW in July and took out a 24 month contract and a new handset. I've now got a message from o2 saying as I'm a silver upgrade I can upgrade now. After logging into my o2 account directly it states I was due an upgrade in July.
It looks like my o2 account hasn't been updated from CPW. What do you think I should do?

Wait until the contract (original) is due to end, give proper and terminate the contract. Meanwhile, do a LOT of research on cashback contracts, take one out once you're very competent to do so and then you'll end up paying nothing and can use the "new" phone with the sim from the new contract. Sell the phone which comes with the cashback contract and then it'll not only cost you zip for the next 18 months or so but you'll end up in profit.
It won't be the first time CPW has slipped up and (as has happened to me more than once with them) you'll be much better off as a result. OR....
you could be REALLY dumb, confess and return the free phone and pay an awful lot of money doing it all again.0 -
Thanks for your advice. What do you think to just going through o2 and getting an upgrade through them? I know they don't offer any deals like other upgrade options but not sure how great my credit is to get a new contract!0

You could always try a new contract first - possibly with another network. Not sure whether CPW would notice or be told if you upgrade direct with O2 now; would affect any cashback remaining and I suppose they might also notice the discrepancy on their records, but that's a calculated risk only you can make. I never upgrade so it wouldn't arise in my case. Their mistakes have been in other ways which I won't broadcast on here!0
