  • EA shouldn't pass on things like him calling you an idiot. In fact he should be used to people like this. I agree with someone else that the EA probably !!!!!!ed the person about originally.

what else could you do, if I had turned up to view your house in the dark with no electricity that is worse than re-arranging.
  • may be EA is making you look bad to hide something which they might have missed.

He sounds like a bit of a nutter. Although I'm not sure why the EA bothered to tell you all that, surely it would have been more professional just to say "The man has found another property and no longer wants to view yours"...? Or maybe she was in shock and wanted you to know you'd had a lucky escape.

I was thinking this too, that she didnt have to go into all the gory details, but when I think about it she did seem very quiet when she called me back, like she couldnt believe what he said to her!

First time selling a house and I cant wait for it to be over already if this is what its like lol..
  • we had a buyer like that! complete mentalist :p they wanted us to drop £3k off the asking price after the survey, as there was a window that needed replacing, 2 tiles missing off the roof and 12 woodworm holes in the roof. We said we'd meet them half way and they threw a hissy fit an pulled out. We got quotes for all the work that needed doing and its costing us £400... not £3k. We sold again today. You're far better off without strange people like that - moving house is stressful enough. Hopefully next time you'll have a normal viewer!!
  • Agree probably a lucky escape with a nutty buyer, but I also wonder if you should be concerned about the EA's professionalism and communication skills. Negotiating a sale is a skill and involves a certain amount of tactful phrasing and filtering - NOT repeating verbatim what the other party has said, particularly if it is likely to offend or upset. Couldn't she have just said the viewer is no longer interested and left it at that?
