I`ve just sent off for a free velour fabric sample, if its ok then i`ll order a metre at £4.50, it should last quite a while :D

Squeaky - it helps the tool to glide along the laminate without damaging it and also picks up and stray bits of lint etc, i do notice a difference when its almost gone.

Ah right. I've only ever used it on furniture and my stair carpet. My dyson allows the main roller brush to be retracted when doing laminate or vinyl floors.

Seems to me that any fabric might do then, if thick enough - though it might not be as tough wearing as the original stuff.

Good luck - and don't forget to report back :)

My dyson does that too, its the DC14 but i find that using the stair tool on the laminate is quicker as we have dogs & a cat and any stray hair gets blown underneath the sofa so i prefer to use the tools. The rug however needs the brushes. I love the machine though as it always does a good job :D I`ve probably jinxed it now though:rotfl:

I`ll post back when the sample arrives.

could you have a look through the rails in a charity shops? I'm thinking that a baby girl's velour dress, or babygrow wouldn't cost much and would keep you in velour replacements from here to kingdom come! :)

I'm not sure what that stuff really does. It doesn't seem to me that it can help with actually cleaning...? Maybe it's just meant to be a gliding surface to stop the plastic from digging into the carpet and dragging...?

It picks up cat hairs. Very well! (I have a very floofy long haired cat.)

Its a specialist material - not felt, velour, corderoy or anything else :D I've only ever seen it on the bottom of hoover attachments and on those clothes brushes - I would get a clothes brush and cut the fabric off it - i can't see anything else doing the same job as the fabric 'grain' is one way... and picks up hair like nothing else..... confused....

Was intrigued by this thread, made me have a look at my own Dyson which is only a year old, noticed some of the red stuff was coming away so am going to glue it back on now so it doesnt come off completely.

MrsD - if your Dyson was new when you bought it, the stair attachment will be covered by the guarantee (unless they've changed the wording of the guarantee in the last few years). You can just ring them and they'll send you a new one :) And then you can send you old one to Sunny ;)
