Does anyone know what this is called?

The red stuff that is along the underside of the stairtool on the vacuum cleaner.

I keep googling different things trying to find it and i just keep getting links to the actual stairtool itself which has nothing wrong with it - i just need more of the braid to stick underneath.

I know that it will have a proper name but i can`t find it lol

Help!

    I'd guess it's the same material that's on a clothes brushes. See if you can find an old one at a boot sale or from a 99p store and cut a bit of cloth off.

    Make sure you put the new one on the same way as the old one came off.

    Hope this helps.

    It's a lot like corduroy on mine... so if you have any old 70's gear in the back of the wardrobe... :)

    Hmmm, it does seem like a velour type of material but its almost all gone so i can`t double check.

    I`ve emailled Dyson to ask about it so it will be interesting to see their reply, i`m half expecting them to say that i need to buy a new stair tool which i definitely don`t.

    My Dad has suggested sticking some velcro on it, both pieces the hooks and the loops and then when i`m doing the carpet i can take the hooks off. When i want the tool to slide over the laminate i can put the other bit on so that it won`t get scratched :D

    I`ll wait and see if Dyson reply:D

    Ta peeps x

    I know, barmy isn`t it. I`ll bet that the stuff underneath is pence too.

    Btw i have no cordoroy kicking about. I`d be willing to bet that would make a good substitute too.

    I may end up cutting up some of DH`s jeans yet rather than fork out a tenner :D

    I'm not sure what that stuff really does. It doesn't seem to me that it can help with actually cleaning...? Maybe it's just meant to be a gliding surface to stop the plastic from digging into the carpet and dragging...?

    <shrug>

    And yeah, there's a heck of a difference between a few pence and a tenner (plus P&P?).
