This is why people get errors with this teezer

£8.33 + £1 does not equal £10, hence the quiz where the money went to.

The friends clearly paid £9 to the shop owner.
It cost the friends £27 for the gun, not £25.
The shop owner simply chose to put £25 through the till and pocket the remaining £2

If the friends paid £8.33 each and have £1 in their pocket, where has their £0.67 pence each gone to?

Further more 3 x £0.67 = £2.01, so where did the additional penny come from? ;)

    You're actually stupid.

    £0.66, £0.67.

Where did the penny come from, where did the penny go.

    It's embarrasing just watching now.

    LOL, if you think so.

I challange you to go and split the money into the values you are talking about.
There was ha'pennys at one point in time, but I cannot recall there being a 1/3 penny denomination.
This is why it is a categorical error to state they paid £8.33 each or £8.3333333 (recurring) as it's either impossible or th figures don't add up.

    This is childrens maths really.

If a child is what is the minimum amount of coins it takes to make up 67p, they cannot make up new denominations and must stick to the currency denominations.

    P.S. The Answer is 4 coins (50p, 10p, 5p and 2p)

It's sad that grown adults cannot work in this day and age with simple currency values.

It may be interesting to go through some old school maths / aritmetic papers.

You do realise you don't actually need to split it this way? It's a collective payment, totalling an even amount. The £8.333333 not being a currency is totally and utterly irrelevant.

You do realise you buy stuff like this all the time? It's called fuel. If you are going to be this anal about it, simply because you are trying to backtrack, how on earth do you pay £1.40.9 pence for fuel?

Thats basically what you are now asking. The clue was in my very first answer. Rounding. You are being extremely stupid now trying to make a point which doesn't exist. I've already said, if you want to be silly about it, one paid £8.44, the other two paid £8.33. You are just being extremely pedantic to make an extremely anal point.

You could put in multiples of 10 litres of fuel ;)
Of course in the real world your fuel price is a fine example of rounding (are there any more), however the point of the brain teezer was not to discuss the merits of rounding but in fact to not allow it so that you become miss directed into where the funds were allocated.

Being pedantic and anal, you didn;t say one paid £8.44 (or £8.34) and the others £8.33.

Your still demonstrating a flaw that they paid more and the owner pocketed the difference.

    .

    Jeez.

    You have lost it.

And I did state what you stated I didn't state. As I have said 3 times. Re read.

Which means, the gun cost £25, divided by 3 = £8.33 each) - or to be precise, £8.34 for one, and £8.33 for the other 2.

!!!!!! r u guys arguing about? You're both arguing the same thing but saying it in different ways. Unbelievable.

Each person payed £9 in the end, £10-£1. Thats £27 total.
£25 went to the purchase of the gun, £2 went in the shop keepers pocket.
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
