Virgin broadband internet main fault failure, po1,p04,p09?!!

Hi, I pay for Virgin Broadband size L and the internet connection is OFF. Sometimes it works maybe for a day if i'm lucky! Spoke to virgin and they Eventually Confirmed it is a Main Supply fault and they cannot fix this until the end of November. In the mean time I cannot access important emails, paypal, ebay or any other important services. They said I would be reimbursed for the I month faulty supply but I don't think this is satisfactory. As this is an area fault I wondered how others are dealing with it and if there any suggestions? Be very grateful to hear from anyone!

I agree it sounds pretty poor but no home ISP offers a service level agreement. Based on complete non-provision of service (if that is what you are saying this is) you could almost certainly terminate the contract without penalty but given this is cable and you'll need a phone line for ADSL the lead time on getting that may well be longer than waiting for the fix.

A PAYG 3G dongle may tide you over or maybe piggy-backing a neighbours wifi if you are friendly enough with yours for that to be possible.

If you have the TV,try & use the interactive. If that works then the fault is not with the network, also are any of your neighbors affected? A area fault with cable broadband is usually confined to the Node that all the street cabinets in your area are connected to,so that would affect up to 700 services. The is a redundancy built into the network so that if the is a break in the network ring in one direction, traffic will automatically go in the other direction (sorry, trying to remember my Network Certification course I did many years ago...) Each customers tv & bband is connected to a bank of ports in the cabinet,so any fault on that tap bank will affect all the users connected to it.Any network outage will affect all customers connected to all the street cabinets back to the node. (unlike DSL bband where each customer has an individual connection going back to the exchange)
If none of your neighbors are affected, then the fault is local to you only & may be damaged cable, faulty modem, faulty Isolator or splitter ect.
