Can't wait to see the claws out for Tatco as it's not something I'm likely to do as I usually shop at Mr S although I do have the odd gripe with them too! (What's the right MSE forum lingo for it btw?)
Touche Eclat is just for the really bad eye days as it's rather pricey. Google "Sheer Cover" or check the shopping channels. I know that sounds tacky but it's rather good as it's mineral make up, so just a powder, but without the price of Bare Escentuals etc. Maybe not your thing but have a look.
I'm very jealous of you being an 80s teenager as love my music from then but was born in 1982 so it was my childhood instead.
My flat is always rather chaotic so you'd be very unsettled here. It actually unsettles me but I've unfortunately never managed to be a tidy person.
Don't have a Waitrose up here in Aberdeen, the nearest is in Edinburgh, much to my annoyance! Hopefully we'll get one soon as the John Lewis here does a roaring trade. I therefore don't have the card but is this it? http://www.marketingmagazine.co.uk/news/1100271/ Seems like it's a different kind of loyalty card to Nectar and Clubcard. You'll have trouble using your Nectar card at Shell btw as it's BP that uses Nectar!
Loving the lilac FRUGAL and the fuchsia FABULOUS; I think you could start an MSE trend!
You girls are so lucky with footwear; the boots and shoes sound divine! Do we get to see a pic of the dress? Sound's like your loving being back in them so wear them all you want is what I say.
I've never seen Chocolat so have set it to record on plus one. I'm loving your description of it so can't wait to watch it. Used to like Mr Depp but not so much since he's had the longer hair and facial hair. Leaves less competition for you though. Hehe!
Just out of the bath myself, a lovely Radox sleep easy which was free from my mum as she had almost 30 bottles of the stuff so I gratefully accepted 10!
Enjoy the soak and the film. Would love a glass of wine but am being good and sticking to squash. How unFABULOUS is that?Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42
Car Tax Fine £80.00, B/card Visa £470.85, RBS M/C £759.69, M&S M/C £790.00, B/card M/C £2,592.01, House Ins/Title Deeds £1,573.54, Laptop Finance £578.45, Old Car Ins £85.73, Total debt £9,607.790 -
During the tidying up I found a waitrose card which they want me to use each time I shop ... not quite sure what for & there are no rewards as such; but they did send me vouchers for a free bag of sweets, a free roll of wrapping paper & a 5p off per litre voucher for use at Shell garages *FRUGAL* There's one not far from here & I can use my nectar card there so I'll fill up next week with the Tatco 5p off voucher & then in December using the Waitrose one
.
I have one too - the leaflet did seem to be saying that using it means they will send more vouchers relating to what you buy. Which hopefully is their alternative approach to buying our marketing data with points.Until my snake hips make a miraculous reappearance ( ha ha ) I am avoiding trousers where possible. I've not worn dresses much at all since I was about 10, except during the summer or when on holiday but over the last year or so I've suddenly started to really enjoy wearing them. I felt terribly dressed up at first but now I love them & am constantly scouring ebay *FRUGAL*.
One of my favouritest films ever is on tonight; 'Chocolat' :jFantastic writing by Joanne Harris - my favourite author, beautiful film, love, sex, magic & chocolate all intertwined with the sexiest man alive: Monsieur Johnny Depp :heartpuls:heart::heartpuls:heart::heartpuls.
I love dresses, so much less co-ordination involved
- dress, boots, done. I have enough trouble with mornings without having to calculate combinations of what I have and haven't ironed.
I love the book Chocolate but refuse to watch the film in case it spoils the book. Strangely, I don't get the Johnny Depp thing so he's all yours.
Also did you know JH has a new kid's book just out?
Enjoy bubbles and JD

Its like when we were kids and Sunday is bath night! I've just had one too!
Sorry for butting in and not introducing myself - I'm almost 40, newly single and childless and fairly recently debt free. I love your diary and will definitely be keeping an eye on your escapades!
Right telly and a bag of chocolate buttons are calling me.......
Good luck!0 -
Hi Welshwoofer & welcome aboard,
Marty - yes, that's the card :T. I'm a fairly recent convert to Sainsbugs - you can call it what you like my sweet - Waitrose deserves to be known by it's real name & I coined the name Tatco some years ago to express my derision for the place - although I do go there once a month or so - but they always do something to irritate me while I'm there, this time it was charging me £2 for 'chocolate' although I swear I didn't buy any .
Thanks for the nectar points correction - that would be embarassing :rotfl:
Rosa - thanks for reading the Waitrose card blurb for me :A I'll have to shop there more often to make sure I get a decent month's worth of shopping * plans to stock up on Gin
*.
I promise that the film is wonderful, I'm always very wary but the casting is fantastic & it's just so beautifully done, I'm sure you'd love it.
Funny you mention the new book, Amazon told me about that earlier. I do have the first one but haven't read it yet, it's on the 'to read' pile along with Holy Fools, & a few others
.
I've been completing surveys all weekend & am within 50 points of a £10 amazon voucher with one company & 50 points of a £5 voucher with another one.
No exciting payments here today; just another spend day what with £20 to the DVLA & another £15 to the school caterers for Littlest lunches.
Unashamedly still loving not having to make packed lunches; only having to think about one meal a day is so much more manageable & mornings are a lot less stressful too.
Rosa I am a total convert to frocks now; and you've been a great influence :T it really does make life simpler & probably saves on laundry too *FRUGAL* as there's just the one item
.
I'm off to bed now & hope for a NSD tomorrow
G'night

Enjoyed reading about you all picking up on what I call Pink Rose Candle Philosophy, using up the beautiful things. If they are gifts given with love, each use or wear reminds you of the giver.
If they are things you bought but couldn't bear to use, just remember that if you don't use them, they will end up in landfill when they go off. Or end up being disposed of by your relatives, when you shuffle off the mortal coil. Who will probably be quite upset at the thought that you didn't enjoy your beautiful things that meant so much to you.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
love the pink rose candle philosophy..never heard of that before...
twas bath night here tonight with lots of lovely bubbles and a parma violet candle burning away..felt quite decadent.
loving the clothes talk...would love to wear dresses but haven't worn one for years and am not the right shape yet..
hope you enjoyed your film0 -
The Waitrose card enters you into a draw to win your month's shopping and another draw to win a year's worth of shopping. And since they've had some bargainous pear vodka on offer, it's been a useful place to stock up for pressies for shush you know when :xmassmile‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

I've lurked on Lula's Quests for some time now but never posted. Was tempted to reveal myself when we both went to the same Killers gig but decided that would just be too sad.
Anyway - Hi.0 -

Ooh good another excuse - hadn't thought of the laundry angle :rotfl:
Although it's reading your diary that made me click on the Joe Brown's site yesterday, so if this sneaks into my wardrobe I'm blaming you!!
Totally agree about using beautiful things. There is no point having stuff that doesn't get used, it just turns into clutter, and besides it's a shame to hide beautiful things away. I try to buy things I love and enjoy them til they fall to bits. Now I just need to learn that I can only enjoy a small number of things at once, otherwise there is the same effect of them not getting used!

Hello & welcome to short_bird  thanks for the pear vodka tip too, I feel that it would be churlish to refuse to sample such a bargainous tipple.
lizzie dripping - :hello: I do recognise your name & thank you for being such a faithful long term Quest Guest, warms the cockles of my heart
... Was it Hyde Park or the previous Wembley gig we shared ?
mcculloch - 'tis a very good philosophy. I used to get so cross when my grandmother's carers used the cheap nasty crockery when there was a lovely vintage set in her sideboard. In the end I took all the nasty stuff away so they had to use her decent stuff.
Rosa - stop blaming me for your clothes habit, it's mean & I have my own habit to overcome ( was planning secret trip to Windsor to casually wander past Jones Bootmakers window to see if purple & brown boots are there ...).
taxi - I can't wait to hear that you've worn your first dress ... won't be long now & you will look & feel amazing
*feminist soap box alert*
For the longest time, many women have worn trousers to play down their femininity in order to be treated equally & not as eye candy for straight men. I wore my new dress ( sorry, no pics as it was via ebay so must be a previous 'season') today, felt very feminine but I still kicked !!!
.
Grumpy returned from his 2 week Carribean jaunt today & was still ... err ... grumpy, he is such a miserable old git, I'd hate to be him; stuck in some bad 1970s groove & longing for the 'good old days' when chauvinism was all the rage & female staff just put up with it.
Anyway I'm late so best be quick; today (monday) was NSD number 3 so therefore FRUGAL, I did another 15 minute cross country trek to avoid parking fees so healthy & also FRUGAL
.
I'm product testing something yummy & getting paid for it so that's pretty FABULOUS & I had a glorious soak in the bath with magazines again tonight & then slathered on some body butter afterwards, so that when Gropey tries to be ... er ... gropey during the staff meeting tomorrow, I'll just slip out of his grasp in a FABULOUSly scented manner :rotfl:
G'night
