A Year of Living Frugabulously

Ladies,
are you trying to hook me up with Mr Laidback Dude ?
It would be complicated on every level so I'm not even going to even think about whether he might perhaps be interested - not that he's ever shown an inkling. I just really enjoy his company, he reminds me of my best friend years ago - who was also male - & someone who brings out the best in me.
I'm not really in a 'needing to be wanted or desirable' phase for possibly the first time in my life ever !
I went out 'knowing' that I looked nice, but it was purely & simply for my own pleasure & I think the fact that I can do this & not need to be complimented or noticed shows just how much my self esteem has risen over the last couple of years.
It's a good place to be in & much as I really enjoyed Mt. Laidbacks company & having a male adult in my own space ( rare, as it's usually females or family) it was great knowing that in spite of copious amounts of booze quaffed, we had no reason to feel any embarassment, shame, regret or questions about what was going to happen next.
It's been a long time since I could say that about an overnighter
Also, however much we may hate it, there is a difference in how age difference are received, depending on which gender the older partner is.
Demi, I feel for you, but Ashton, I'm over heeeeeere if you need some consolation
Off to make super noddles for tea & then count pennies

I've been dallying with the idea of joining the Frugal Living Challenge, but not sure I can keep up with another thread, still pondering at the mo. Anyways, they are masters of stockpiling & bulk buying & I've been trying to do this myself in the last few weeks, with a view to minimal spending as from January.
I was considering that. Trouble is I am not naturally frugal! And I did it once when I first came to the boards when it was the live on 4000 pounds a year and oh boy did I fail on that!! I think now you can set your own limit but I do feel slightly suss - I would hate to think people who were in my position a few years ago ie masses of debt read my posts and think what a prat why is she here she doesn't have any debts.
However I did in a fit of Frugalness buy six months worth of Birthday Cards and put them in my birthday book thing. I just have to remember to send them now!

Tell them to go and apply a torsional force to themselves...
I've had 2 GFs who were round about 10 years older than me. It's not the ages, it's the people."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Yaaay Lula glad you had a fab time :j
Yes, we all think you should hook up with Laidback Dude as he can clearly appreciate your FABULOUSness. But enjoy him in whatever form you like. Age shouldn't have anything to do with it*. (And besides, he may have a Laidback Older Brother.)
Hope the hangover is receding. And sending you the extra sleep I accidently had today - clearly it was for just this purpose :rotfl:

*I know it used to be perceived differently for older women-younger men than vice versa, but I think that's changing. People hit different stages of their lives at different times and have different plans. I have exBFs 17 years older than me and 6 younger - the only thing that was an issue is you have to have your childhood TV and music nostalgia with friends instead!Debt free May 2016... You're a step ahead of me - I have at least two year's supply of cards for all occasions, once I rounded them up from the various stashes that I'd forgotten about... :mad:Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

My thoughts exactly :T though apparently these were getting rather more attention than I had realised :rotfl:Cheery_Daff wrote: »Oooh - boats

I used to live on one (although probably not of the style and opulence you're talking about - this was a 50ft narrowboat at the end of someone's garden outside Stoke, but I *loved* it...) Tooooo jealous to even think about it, going to turn away and stick fingers in ears
<la la la la la not listening la la la la>
Not convinced there is a lot of style and opulence involved, it's a narrowboat on the river in a lovely green bit of town (no length on the initial details). Would mean ditching or storing quite a bit of stuff though, and is as expensive as a garden flat, so might ask to view and see what I think.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress
