If I froze mashed potato how do I then serve it? Take it out in advance and defrost it then heat through or can I heat through without defrosting?
Thanks0 -

I use an ice cream scoop to portion my mash up for freezing, and just reheat from frozen, but I suppose you could take it out first to defrost. With shepherds pie though, you cook it from frozen.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
I just got a slow cooker for Xmas and my food for my 1st receipe yesterday but I have gone and lost the link to the receipe I was going to use and a google search comes up with all sorts of new ones where I don't have the ingredients or which don't use the ingredients I bought. FYI I went out and bought (bare cupboards as new to cooking): beef, cumin, onion, paprika, mixed herbs, red pepper, plain flour, red wine, worcestershire sauce, sour cream, noodles.
Can anyone help with a receipe for this stuff or a link?2009 CLEAR MORTGAGE:starmod: (17/2/09) LIVE ON 4K Q1:staradmin(£5,405) SAVE 30K (£9.500)0 -

Sorry, haven't done the usual searches to check if my answer is already here as I am about to start baking; when a recipe says 'flour to the weight of the two eggs', etc., then I presume it means the weight of the eggs in their shells.... THANKSThat's Numberwang!0

Hi
I have been lurking on the forum for a while now picking up tips etc
With the new year approaching and me being in quiet a lot of debt which I am determined to get out of this year I have decided to adapt to the os way of life. Thanks every1 for your amazing tips etc that you all post on the site :T They really have made me realise that I can get by on a very low food budget.
I nipped to Tescos last night and they had single/whipping cream reduced to 8p for a large tubs I have whipped the whipping cream and froze it but on the tub of the single cream it says not sutible for home freezing so I am just wondering if there is any type of pasta sauces that I could make using this cream up or any soup recipes that I could use the cream in.
Also I am cooking some chicken breast for dinner today, Would I be able to freeze any left overs after they are cooked and if so would I be able to refreeze them when they are cooked? I bought them ready frozen so not too sure if it would be safe too refreeze.
Thanks in advanceJanuary Grocery challenge

Welcome Upsey and well done on those fantastic bargains. Very OS and I'm totally jealous.
The meat will be fine to refreeze after it has been cooked. As regards the single cream, I made a carbonara sauce and sucessfully froze that with no problems. A quick stir was all it needed after I'd heated it in the microwave.
I've not tried soups but I couldn't think of a reason why that wouldn't work. I've used mine in the past to make creamy quiches and also my favourite treat - creamy HM bread sauce, which I love just served over chicken and rice as a pouring sauce. Scrumpcious!AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I'm not sure about soup, but you can freeze the chicken again once it cooked. I think the rule is that freeze once when raw and once when cooked. HTHSometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0
