I can't find a charity number on their site, just a company number.

Registered in the UK as Animal Abuse Injustice and Defence Society. Company number 1787309
    Bulletproof

I dont' think this is anything more than a product sold by a company that also sells items not tested on animals.

It only says 'remember animals', not that any of the proceeds will go towards helping them in any way.

If I'm right, this is nothing more than a con, particularly as the name of the shop is 'animal aid'.

    I hope I'm wrong.
Just because it says so in the Mail, doesn't make it true.

I've got ADHD. You can ask me about it but I may not remember to answer...

They've been doing this for years, the purple poppies. I don't think they are an actual charity, but they do do a lot of good work (it's not a scam or something). I often see their campaigns on various animal cruelty issues.

My grandfather was one of the boys (17 years old) that cared for the horses. He wouldn't talk about it at all, but he had been working with horses since he was about 9.

He never worked with them again afterwards and always refused to get involved with the poppy appeal as he felt they were glorifying war.

Animal Aid have campaigned for a very long time for animal welfare, though. Even way back when a child wanting to be vegetarian was likely to be taken to the doctor for being 'wrong in the head'.

Amazingly enough Jojo my Grandfather brought his own horse ( a favourite hunter I think) with him to the war AND brought him home again ( to Ireland) afterwards!

Wonderful luck. GD would have been one of those tiny boys from the London slums who looked after the horses and a pair of new boots and a meal was something they could only dream of just a couple of months previously.

A completely different life, but neither exempt from the horrors of what they saw.

How wonderful - I'm betting the horse got a very well deserved retirement!

    Lovely story!
