Sons Account on my Credit Report, 2nd time this Year

Congratulations, you win the award for the most judgemental comment on this forum for 2011!
I'll be sure when I have my first-born not to name him anything that may cause an error in some future computer system that will be in existance 18 years after his birth. Oh drat, I seem to have misplaced my crystal ball.
Seriously, was that a legitimate comment?
It wasn't a relevant comment no, but it's exactly what I (and presumably many people) were thinking as soon as I read the post.
Of course, they don't have to justify it to anyone, but naming your son after yourself seems pretentious to me and I wouldn't even consider it. The only time it seems ok (again - to me, there is no need to justify themselves) is when the father dies before birth as a tribute etc.0 -

You Sir are an absolute . . . . . , and with a name like Callum I too would not pass that down to my son so can understand why you wouldn't consider it.
The name has been passed down through our family since as far back as the 1800's and maybe further, so now how is that 'pretentious'?0 -
well when we named our children we were careful not to even have the first lettter of their first name be the same as either my wife or I or the other children specifically to avoid issues in the future
Weird! Just weird!
How paranoid are you?
Don't look now but I think there is someone behind you:eek:0 -

If a letter came for "Mr J Wig" who wasn't me it would get very confusing.
My mum and I share the same first initial. It has barely caused any confusion as letters almost always use a title, a middle initial and/or a first name in full. But any closer than that and I think there would be a problem.0 -
This is such a sensitive issue for me because as a software developer, I'm really against people altering their behaviour because of some flaw or limitation of a computer system. Computer systems should be designed around people, not the other way around. Issues such as this are symbolic of cheaply built and shoddy computer software!
While of course we don't have any direct control over the CRA's computer systems, and it is mildly inconvenient to have a letter come addressed to Initial + Surname, it still annoys me a lot that the computer software in use today can't simply be made smarter.
I think that passing a name down through generations is a grand tradition, although perhaps it's more common in New Zealand where I grew up, and in the US. I would hate to give it up because of other people's poor computer software.
It's not just names - when I read people on here getting turned down for credit because their address is listed on some system as "8/73 Barnyard Cres. E187AX" instead of "Flat 8, 73 Barnyard Crescent E18 7AX", or when I have to enter my phone number in two boxes on an online application form because the computer can't recognise it if I enter it all in one box, it makes me cringe! You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
