talktalk to orange

Hi all,
Advice needed please -
I'm currently with Talktalk on the essentials package but paying around £30/month due to any time call boost and download boost.
I rung to try and cancel and haggled it down to £15 ish for basic essentials package (without anytime calls, just 40mb and £5 credit/month for 12 months).
I am particularly annoyed with them because I had rung earlier, and had been offered the plus package for £16 (including anytime calls and unlimited downloads) but made the mistake of saying I'd call back to confirm, and now they are denying the conversation ever took place and say there's no way I can speak to the same advisor.
I'm thinking of moving to Orange broadband which would work out around £15 / month (added benefit to talktalk essentials package being that it is unlimited downloads).
However, I've been reading about all the difficulties people have been having with regards to the orange bb connestion, and I really don't have time to deal with a poor connection at the moment.
Another minus factor for orange is that I'd have to change my line to BT from TT, then have to cancel the contract and send it to orage to get a refund etc. which seems like a long difficult process. Has anyone else done this, and if so how was it?
I'm pretty annoyed with talktalk and had a good go at their useless CS advisor, but don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire in my haste.
Any words of wisdom?

If you read reviews, TalkTalk to Orange = Frying Pan to Fire.
If you're on TT LLU (most likely you are) then switching to ANY other provider probably means a return to donor (line back to BT). The exception is Sky who CAN do TT-Sky LLU-LLU, but this doesn't always work.0 -
Hi Peace,
If you were not happy with the offer made by the second Retentions agent you can discuss any further discounts with them, that may be available.
In many cases the first offer of discount is not the maximum discount that you may be eligable for (otherwise if you declined the agent has little further to offer) so there may be further offers Retentions can make (such as extending the discounted period, applying free boosts or discounted line rental in addition to the package).
Alternatively if you were renewing for a 12 months period biggger diso!!!!s may be otained with an 18 month contract commitment. Retentions can go through these with you as promotions can change day to day.
There are many cases both here on MSE and our own Members forum wehre csutomers have declined the first offer and been able to get further discounts applied, it just depends on what you are happy with from the offers made.
Regards
Mark
