Hot water temperature

So its not just you that thinks the water is too hot. Thats different then. Did ignoring man supply the boiler? Has anyone measured the temperature of the hot water that the boiler is producing? If its is producing hot water at above the specified temperature then there is a problem with the boiler which needs fixing. So if he supplied it it's down to him to take it up with WB. If he didn't and you bought it then its for you to take it up with the person you bought it from.Penelopa.Pitstop wrote: »Thanks for the answers. The plumber who ignored me is the guy who installed water & heating system.
Yesterday he called me again and said he can try to balance the taps. But said he can't do anything else to resolve the problem. I knew there's no temp regulation at the boiler. Sad discovery after it was installed, but it's my fault, I chose this model. I had 25i in previous flat and assumed that water temp regulation is standard. Then I realised that water in shower is very hot and told him about it, describing exact problem. Never mind, I'm not going to use his services any more.
New plumber is coming to fit the TMV just below the boiler. He checked boiler and it's fine. And also commented that water in taps is very hot.
In what way does second man suggest that boiler is "fine". Did he measure the temperature?
My point is this if the boiler is defective then it will forever produce hot water at above the specified temperature. So you will be forever burning gas at ongoing cost to raise the water temperature above that specified only to immediately mix it with cold water in your blending valve to bring the temp back down again. Sorry but to me that's quite illogical.
Thats not a problem to my mind. You wanted commonality of design. But as you've already said that its only the BSM giving real problems has anybody actually checked for blockage/restriction issues as previously mentioned. I'm not sure why you are spending money to fit a blending valve until thats been done tbh but perhaps it has and I suppose it is your money.I knew about it. I couldn't find anything similar with thermostat. It's difficult to match design, technical requirement with my requirements. I wanted this type of tap with shower in one. It works perfectly fine in continental Europe and it's standard solution. I never had problem with different water temp in tap and shower with lever at the same position.
Cheers
Edit: Continental europe is mains pressure supplies for hot and cold. These type/style of taps don't work well with tank fed supplies which are more normal in UK. I had assumed that as you had a combi then your system was all mains. That may have been a mistake and perhaps (no certainly) CH's question about whether the cold is still tank fed or not is very germane. Has anyone checked that for you? They should before you spend your hard earned money on getting a blending valve fitted which I'm still not convinced is required on the information to hand. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
Hot water temperatures are usually regulated at outlets as differing temperatures are needed for different function, you wouldnt wash your dishes at a temperature you would want a bath in would you!
Regulation of temperature should therefore not be controlled from source but at outlet be it manually or mechanically as controlling it at source sets the maximum for all outlets!
Blending valves are fine but they do need regular maintenance especially in hard water areas as they scale up very quickly and cease to operate!
They should also never be set below 43 degree's C, which is still pretty hot, as this is a temperature minimum for the elimination of legionella!
A consideration as so many modern taps have spray nozzles, as do showers of course!
Irrelevant some will probably say, BUT IS IT?Signature removed0
