They've changed ours a few times. It was originally "the last Friday of the month", then "the 25th of the month", and in September they changed it again to "the last working day of the month".

Of course, that still wouldn't explain why half of us have been paid and have not :(

Yep - I've just fired an email off to Mr Payroll. Our rep in London just told me that the wages have now been paid, but mine still haven't hit the account so I want an answer as to what I should expect .

The others are much more angry about this than I am (I'm relaxed by nature) - they're going on about 'breech of contract' but I'm not sure how that really helps anyone. It's 'lump it' or quit, right?

Not clever to have payments going out same day as pay is due if they cannot cover them if pay is late.

Company should cover losses but the workers should try to mitigate b say using some savings to avoid pate payments hen only los of interest wil be incured.(but if they go bust and don't pay then not hence above)

If some people have been paid then it is likely a timing issue with the recent change in date and the last day of the month being a Monday

It's possible that they won't hit your account till midnioght tonight - or when banks do their reconciliations

Seems like you had to wait for the US banks to open up and confirm the transfers.

    Glad its sorted :)

About half of us in this office of 20-odd have just checked our balances to find that we have not been paid our monthly salaries as usual

It's not like it's a small two-bit organisation, there are around 160 of us across the world.

So now everyone's getting all worked up, because our Payroll are based in the US and won't be awake for some time... :(

Some people are having direct debits bounce out of their accounts and are incurring charges - does the company have liability here?

Well I do not know the legalities here but once I worked for a company where some people didn't get paid as there was a ix up and the company paid all bank charges as it was their fault but you would of course have to sort that with your company.

    Thank God eh Badger_Lady?

Pleased for you. I've been in that situation twice over the years, really not pleasant at all, especially when you don't get paid at all in the end.

    It's awfully scary!

I'm so squeezed at the moment - I took a big pay cut for this job because I hoped it would be more rewarding... but it's also 200 miles from home so there are costs for staying over and travelling all the time... plus I've been supporting my sister to the tune of £600 a month because she doesn't have a proper income... I've been getting gradually deeper into my (authorised) overdraft lately and trying desperately pull back on spending / reduce costs just to stay afloat.

This was exactly what I needed to help with that financial stress!
