    hi ya mate

i have the IIi. wireless is very simple to use. all u have to do is enable it and it should detect it automatically. just choose to use it for the internet when the option comes up, and enter the key if you have WEP enabled. easy peasy! ;)

i tried at my uni this evening. when i choose the internet, nothing's happened. So, i tried to click on the explorer and gprs is then 'connecting'. just wondering if wi-fi is enabled, then why this gprs is still be needed?

ahhhhh, matey, ur doing it at uni which is the problem. u need to get permission to connect, thats why u cant connect. ur uni arent just gonna let any stranger connect. here at Cardiff Uni u have to give ur user name and MAC address of the wifi card, etc, etc, and then they'll assign an ip to ur mac address and allow connection. if they dont do this, ur xda IIi will see the network, and u can click connect as many times as u want, but nothing will happen, hence gprs kicks in when u load internet explorer.

i was on about at home where u can have ur own wireless connection using ur own wireless router attached to ur cable modem

i already provided my username and password when i set-up the connection. don't know what is the problem.

anyway, how can i access when i'm at home? do i need another hardware/software to connect it?

at least we both use the same device. therefore, most probably i will ask you a lots.

mate, the xda is very very easy to set-up wireless on. if the signal is there, it WILL detect the network in ur home. and if ur using WEP then it will ask for the key. just enter the key and it wil save all the details. thats it! will connect whenever u want it to. is very easy. if its not detecting the network, then theres something wrong.

soory guys this might be a stupid question....

if a pda/phone is wifi enabled does that mean i can surf the net from that device at full broadband speed. I currently have a wireless network at home and thinking of getting a wifi pda.

    thanks
