As you have not got a buyer for your house, your were takign a bit of a risk in paying out for a survey weren't you? If your sellers got impatient waiting for you to find a buyer you could have lost out in any case?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Unless you can proceed with a purchase you are a tyre kicker.I would accept an offer in principle from someone that could not proceed but inform them that I would continue to market the property, then its their call, put up or shut up.Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.0

No, thankfully we were able to proceed with the purchase regardless of the sale of our current house.0 -

Unfortunately surfcat the survey bit's been scrapped, but hey, who knows what the government will do next!0 -
Why doesn't my 'quote' bit ever appear in a nice, neat box like everyone else's!! What am I doing wrong now?0

You'd deleted the first "square bracket" around the [ / QUOTE ]Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery0 -
There's a button at the top when posting a message to put a box around a quote.
Anyway to the OP :grouphug:.
We had it happen to us too and it's so disappointing to have lost so much money for nothing. There's nothing you can do so just put it down to experience and move on.
Give yourself a bit of time to get over it and then start looking again. You may find something even better.
Best of luck!Stercus accidit0 -

Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of time. We simply do not have enough room where we are now to accomodate a growing family, otherwise I wouldn't have put myself through all this.Accepted offer on our house - Sept 2006

I really hope it works out for you. I have not heard anything back yet from our solicitor but am not holding my breath. Got 3 viewings arranged for the weekend - here we go again!supermumno1 wrote:Thanks everyone and bigs hugs to you Anya as I know how you are feeling. Having talked with the agent the vendors have agreed to a meeting with the agent on Friday and we now just have to wait and see if there is anything we can do to salvage the deal. We are not prepared to pay through the nose for it though but we would comprimise a little if we are really pushed to do so to save the deal. If the reasons they gave are the only ones for pulling out then maybe we still have a chance, but if not then we are house hunting again. I am getting used to the idea that we have lost the money though I will write them a letter if they do confirm the deal is off, and ask them for a contribution.
Let us know how you get on and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.Accepted offer on our house - Sept 2006
