But when someone dings their bell or clicks the gears then at least acknowledge this and don't ignore it as its very annoying.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Wow, you run red lights deliberately and think its the fault of a parent if you hit their child as a result? Cyclists, here's one of the idiots ruining it for you all!
Red. Light. Means. Stop.
Yes, its sensible to check the road even if you have a green man flashing at a pedestrian crossing, but the fact that you think you have the right to ignore the rules is so incredibly arrogant...you do realise the law wouldn't agree with you if you actually did hit and seriously injure someone?0 -

1) Ding your bell slow down. Wait. Ding your bell again. Wait. Repeat until they take the hint. Wait while they shuffle to one side. Pass.
2) Move off the side of the path and carry on as normal.
Or 3) plough straight through them skittling children as you go.

Actually, as they're inconsiderately blocking a cycle path, I'm not adverse to this as a suggestion

Stuff like that affects people's views of cyclists you know, it doesn't do you as a group any favours at all.0 -

Yes, but VP explicitly said in their post that they don't run red lights. Just meant people stepping into the road *generally*, not on red lights.
You need to chill a little and read more thoroughly...0 -

Oh no! My "big club of bicycle people" won't play with me anymore! I'll be ostracised from my "group" and die a lonely, unaffiliated cyclist!
I don't claim to speak for any "group" and I think if this thread's taught us one thing it's that you can't lump all cyclists together.0 -

He said he doesn't blame them if they do run red lights...
Does it really need saying that people should look before they cross the road? That's pretty basic stuff.0 -

But people do, don't they?
You can't really complain that people make negative comments about cyclists when you make remarks like that.
You seemed to be genuinely concerned about the idiot cyclists ruining it for the rest of you at first, but clearly you're not that bothered.0 -

He said he can see why he does it and offers legitimate reasons why people might do it for their own protection. I think this is quite distinct from the people who blur through to save a few seconds...
You'd have thought looking before stepping out was obvious, yet I've crashed into people a couple of times after they stepped out without warning and had countless near misses. (and worse, I was crashed into once, I was di**ing about as a kid). People assume if they can't hear a car they're safe to step out.Person_one wrote: »But people do, don't they?

I've no problem if people want to make negative remarks about cyclists - sorry if I've given you cause to think that. I'm a cyclists, a pedestrian and a motorist. I see the best and worst in all of them. Personally, I don't give a damn what people say about "drivers" or "cylists" or "runners"...I know that I'm better than most, so probably agree.0
