Hi All,
After reading the great bit on the side thread I have decided to give Avon a try. I met with my leader woman last night and she was very nice. I am looking to find out if you ladies/gents use Avon and why? What is your favourite product and why? I obviously can't try all the products but wish to give honest opinions to any people I call on.
I know some people have negative views on Avon however I wish to give it a go to help clear my car loan.
I hope you can offer some assistance,
thanks

I did Avon several years ago to help me save for a holiday.
What I suggest is just going out and putting the books through the doors and putting a note in with it to say you can order samples of certain items for a nominal fee (I think you will have that in your literature) so if they want to purchase a sample first they are welcome.
I think the key thing about Avon is that you can flick through the book at your convenience and pop it out on your doorstep, with little or no contact.
So remember to put them in plastic freezer bags, put in the note the day you will be coming back, and if they wish to place the book on their doorstep that day if they aren't going to be in.
You could also put in a little tick sheet indicating you are new to Avon and would they like you to put further books through their door. That way you save putting the books in through doors of people who have no intention of giving it back (many will throw them away) and you don't waste your time going back to them. The books from memory do cost you, so that will also cut down on costs.
My mum did Avon for over 10 years, and made enough for us to have a family holiday every year.
Key thing is to get into a routine and it won't seem such an inconvenience and with lighter evenings coming in the next few months it will be easier to do.
Good luck0 -
Thanks for such great information, I think I will be heading to POUNDLAND for some freezer bags, I am just going to set myself a target of 3 months and take it form there. The lighter evenings will certainly makes things easier. I have a car but am planning on walking to get in some exercise.0

I like the soft & fresh range (used to be woodland fresh).
Anecdotally I've heard it's very good for keeping insects away and it works very well for my husband (aparently the SAS use it).
One thing I don't like about Avon is the packaging.
I sometimes keep items for a long time (have too much stuff) and have had 2 or 3 instances of their packaging completely failing (plastic tubes cracking).
I have only experienced this with Avon so they must have cheap packaging.0 -
I and everyone else in our hillwalking club uses Skin So Soft as a midgie repellant. Between us we have probably tried every product available and everyone swears by Skin So Soft as being the best at repelling insects. Not exactly the intended purpose, but it's another way of trying to make a few sales.0

dont forget you can back order from 1 book behind and still get special offers , so for example if you have a large terrotory , you could put say campaign 1 in one street and campaign 2 in another that way you only need a limited number of books per campaign. I missed Avon so much when I moved to my new home dd became a rep. I love their straight and sleek hair range , Anew clinical eye lift and the avon active roll on deoderant is superb its got something in it that slows underarm hair growing, its on special; at a £1 a go at the mo.:hello:What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
oh forgot to add dd finds sunday, early evenings the best time to pick up and deliver orders.:hello:What goes around - comes around

Go for it hun- i did it a few years ago and even had my own team of reps that i managed after about a year. TBH i wish i continued, but i didnt after i moved homes.
Some of the product are amazing and some are so-so. I found that anything planet spa range is usually amazing. Like the sea salt scrub (i thnk this is discontinued now sadly) also the body mud mask. Alot of make up like the eyeliners are better than the expensive ones on the high street. I find the shampoos are just so-so but OH likes them.
The best thing is after (i think) your first or second campaign you will start recieving Link mags with amazingly low prices of the stuff they want you to try and pass the word how good it is. Preperation for next catalogue really. This mag is just for you to use only but after a while you begin to know what will sell so i would buy in advance at the really low price and then when people order it from the catalogue i would already have it. Makes great customer service and you actually make more money this way. Its about become savvy about your customers.
Good luck hun! Try and enjoy it though or it can become a chore. If you are happy and chirpy and friendly you are more likely to get alot more sales.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
You guys have been great so far, I have used the leave in conditioner and really liked that. I am not so sure about the 2 catalogues at once. I don't wanna get confused.
I am going to distribute my catalogues on Thursday night and collect them on Sunday night as you have suggested. I will be sure to let you know how I get on.
The leader lady did mention a link book however I think once I see one it will make more sense.

I'm not an Avon rep, but before Christmas I did buy from my local rep. I put in another order that never came, which was a shame because it was supposed to be part of our nephew's present (a Thomas the Tank engine hat and scarf set). I haven't heard from the rep
, but I presume she is no longer doing Avon. It was such a shame because I'm getting to the end of a couple of bottles and would love to re-order, but I don't feel that I can justify mail-order.
As an aside, I'm not overly keen on their liquid soap. It seems a bit thin and doesn't make me feel that clean......Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0 -
Have been an avon rep for the past 3 year (presidents club for 2 of those).
One stop selling is a must if you don't want avon to take over your life - your customers will get it - first time drop of two campaign books (current and next)then go back and collect order - thereafter only drop of next campaign book when you take an order round - that way you will only be going out once every 3 weeks - honestly it seems complicated, but is really simple and saves loads of time.
Sell loads of the ANEW range - particularly for 40+ skin care.
Planet Spa range is gorgeous - particularly love african shea.
SSS - woodland fresh - brilliant midge repellant - also useful for repelling fleas off cat's & dogs.
Sun tan lotion - fantastic range - particularly the spray ones
For campaigning a whole territory - or re-canvassing after a while print out a sticker for the front of old campaign books saying...
"Hi I'm your avon representative - this is an old book that shows the range of products Avon can offer you - I will not be returning to collect it, however, if you would like a current book please call me on 0141 XXX XXXX"
It saves you going back to people who aren't interested.
Hope this helps....
oh yeah - open the boxes upside down - it saves your nails!!!!!
