How early did you buy your dress?

£6000? wow!! I had a budget of £500 in my head (and I know it's do-able!) but my OH had £1500 in his head!! We've compromised on £500-£1000
As for the reason I like the dress I do... I'm not really into vintage fashion, and love the simplicity of dress number 1:beer: Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
I adore the vintage look and lace in particular... but #1 is absolutely fab... and funnily enough, it's the cheapest of the lot at just £650!!!
I am leaning towards two dresses, can't say which ones yet till I hear a few more opinions.
Have you seen any that you love the look of yet, SaLoGo?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

There is one I've fallen in love with. It's by Romantica of Devon, it was on page 135 of this months Brides magazine but didn't have any other details of the dress and I can't find it on the website. Have emailed the designer, but no answer yet
My ideal dress would be a strapless A-line dress in ivory with a very small amount of detail on the bust area. I am very fussy and as I said, not really into vintage styles. Anything that has ruching, ruffles, feathers, lace or organsa (sp?) would be a no-no!
I have already briefed my mum and sister about what I'd like but am open to ideas! Have seen a few non-strapless dresses that I like which has surprised me!
I'm absolutely bursting to go shopping, but am making myself wait til next year as we've enought to do before xmas!!
Have you actually tried any on yet, or are you still at the searching stage?
If the 1st dress you posted had a fuller skirt it would be perfect for me. Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
I'd say 6 it's lovely!0

The first one IS quite full skirted when it's on... try it anyway if you can find a stockist! It's a fab price for such an amazing quality dressthe quality of wedding dresses varies enormously, sone are just cheap and nasty, others are exquisite and elegantly simple.
I've tried on all the dresses above! Plus a few moremy wedding is 8 months away today so need to decide on a dress v. soon!
Be open-minded when dress shopping. You might be surprised at what you like! But don't be bullied into trying on dresses or fabrics that you hate. I love lace, silk and chiffon. I hate taffeta, satin, bling, ruffles/ruching and as you can see im not into strapless dresses at all. so I am very quick in shops!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Yes I agree with this! I never thought I'd like a dress with straps but have seen a few I like.
One of my favourites at the moment is this one:
It's 'Martina' by Maggie Soterro, but I have no idea how much it is!! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -

I like dress 7 and the reason, well (I hate trying to explain stuff) it has a vintage feel but it's also modern at the same time (not sure if that makes sense or if anyone else agrees). I love the fact that the dress itself is close fitted and the top layer is floaty. Hope this makes sense0

It does make sense!I love it, the lace is exquisite and the sheer top layer is just beautiful.
The only problem is that I would want something to cover my shoulders and I think that it would be very hard to find the perfect bolero/shrug/whatever to go with it.It's the only strapless dress I've tried on, didn't like any of the others.

I bought my dress 2 years before the wedding! Before my hubby had even proposed! I knew it was going in that direction so I was browsing wedding dresses on ebay just to get an idea of the style I liked, then I saw my dream dress, a size 14 Hilary Morgan wedding dress, which was ivory with beautiful lilac embroidery. It was only £49.99! I couldn't pass up such a bargain and I've since found it's £900 new! Shopping early can give you time to shop around and find a bargain. Just be sure about the style you want, think about what looks good on you and the style or theme of your wedding. And watch your weight, mine was pretty steady but I gained a bit, fortunately the dress still fit!0
