I've got small fingers too and my ring is platinum. We looked at the High st jewellers and ended up going to a family run Independant store who were not only cheaper but the service was far better! I've ended up with a 3mm platinum band but with a twist in it so it doesn't look as wide and sits far better against my engagement ring.

They were so much more helpful so glad we didn;t use a High st jeweller
Thanks for that. We have an appointment with a bespoke jewellery idependant company so hopefully it will all go well. Service is important to me and i think pretty mcu non existant on the high street!

I think it depends on a few things - if you have something really specific you are looking for I would start looking now. I started looking with about 16months to go and I'm glad I did because there was absolutely nothing in the bridal shops that came close to the look I wanted so now I'm having it made and you need plenty of time for that.

I fully expected to find 'the one' when I went dress shopping, but it was a big dissappointment - they were all so samey. I'm really pleased with the lovely dressmaker I found - and it's actually going to work out cheaper than buying off the peg, plus you don't have to pay for alterations because it's made to measure!

It also depends on the money (if you have it now or need to save) - we wanted to start getting all the little things paid for and deposits down now because we know that close to the wedding we will have the big expense of the reception to pay for.

I had most things done with a year left to go. :j

It's so exciting so don't make yourself wait if you want to do it now! I decided to wait until we booked the venue, but once that was done I was in full planning mode! :rotfl:

I'm also in the tiny finger crew - E and a half! Smallest engagement ring they had ever sold in the store where we got our rings!:rotfl:

An E and half... wow that is tiny! My very first engagement ring about 10 years ago was a G, but I've put on a few stone since.

As for the dress I'm going to start after xmas. Going to make a few appointments and really shop around and get exactly what I want, not just what is available.

I have seen a dress in this month's Brides magazine, it's a Romantica of Devon dress on page 135 but there's no name next to it and I can't see it on the site :( But, I shall take the picture with me to see if I can find something similar.

I bought my dress 18 months before my wedding! I am so pleased I did cos it's a weird colour, sort of lilac but looks white, anyway it is a nightmare getting stuff to go with it like bm dresses etc so I am glad of the extra time to seek out stuff that goes.
  • he isn't bothered about what he gets lol

I wish my other half was that simple to please. He wants a gold inlaid titanium wedding ring at £250, I have seen them cheaper on the internet but the stores have no reviews so I am a little weary of buying from them (luckily we have 20 months for me to find one :D).
When we decided to get married my OH decided to buy me a new engagement ring since the one I have is wedding band style. I decided on a Silver and melanite Pandora ring as it’s more me than a diamond ring. When I went to pick it up I fell in love with a silver heart band ring for £35 and since they had my size in stock (I'm a size J 1/2 so got a K in both as that's the smallest size pandora do) I snapped it up.
My matron thinks I’m crazy for having such “cheap taste” since both rings only cost £85 but it’s what I want and I love both my rings.

I don't think it matters what the rings cost as long as they mean something to you and you live them :)

My OH says he doesnt mind having a silver ring but with his job it would get bashed around too much so he is quite easy to please on this subject, can't say the same for the rest of the wedding plans :rotfl:
